Food Appreciation [Class Four, Period #3]

Marshall was just kind of staring at everybody when class started. He didn't look angry or anything. He was just staring, maybe looking a bit worried.

A little more staring.

A little more...

"I'M AFRAID TO TALK TO EVERYBODY TODAY," he said suddenly. "So far today I told a radio squirrel that if I were another squirrel I'd totally tap that and I told Ted that I didn't really mind his red cowboy boots!"

Ignore the fact that nobody here knew who Ted was.

"What if I start doing lecture and I suddenly start talking about how I think Kaylee's little accent is about the cutest thing I've ever heard and how that sometimes I want to ruffle Sam's hair because it looks fun?" Marshall's eyes widened. "Oh god, I'm doing it already!"

He pointed at the buffet table which had all sorts of moddable sandwiches and subs on them.

"Sandwiches! They're delicious and easy to make! Eat them!" Marshall said. "And for the love of god, someone save me from myself!"

"I'm glad, 'cause while we're not exclusive, I'm pretty sure it's going to hurt a whole hell of a lot when I hear he's slept with someone else," Peyton said. "And, well, talk to me when we know each other better, 'cause yeah, oh God, I'm going to say it - I am in love with him, but it's stupid of me 'cause he's not and won't be and this whole thing is just going to end badly - and can I just, you know, kill myself right now? Please?"

"Hey," she said, looking a little hurt. "Okay, yeah, I'm, hung up on Dean, and yeah, I can't help thinking about what it might be like to have multiple Deans, but if I didn't like you for who you are? I wouldn't waste my time on you."

"Hey, I can't deny it's the wrapping that caught my eye," Peyton admitted. "Since I mistook you for someone else. But I sure as hell wouldn't have invited you to come here my music just 'cause you look like someone cool. I don't have time to waste on idiots."

"Girls always waste time on idiots. Everyone does. Because we're human and humans are stupid and that has to be the reason because otherwise it's my own damned fault that I keep going for the idiots and don't have the guts to actually ask girls out, myself."

"If you ever want a practice run..." Peyton shrugged. "Yeah, I'm sorta hung up on someone else, but that makes me safe. And it's not exclusive, so it's not like there'll be an issue with Dean. And I like hanging out with you, so..."

"Just because Dean's not exclusive doesn't mean I wouldn't want to be." Priestly was kind of stuck on the whole being compared to Dean thing.

She rolled her eyes. "Doubt it. And hey, it's not like I knew a cool guy was going to show up who'd look like the guy I was dating. And at the orientation picnic thing? He looked just like you at Halloween. It was an honest mistake. It's not like I went 'oooh, Dean look-a like, let's experiment!'"
