Food Appreciation [Class Four, Period #3]

Marshall was just kind of staring at everybody when class started. He didn't look angry or anything. He was just staring, maybe looking a bit worried.

A little more staring.

A little more...

"I'M AFRAID TO TALK TO EVERYBODY TODAY," he said suddenly. "So far today I told a radio squirrel that if I were another squirrel I'd totally tap that and I told Ted that I didn't really mind his red cowboy boots!"

Ignore the fact that nobody here knew who Ted was.

"What if I start doing lecture and I suddenly start talking about how I think Kaylee's little accent is about the cutest thing I've ever heard and how that sometimes I want to ruffle Sam's hair because it looks fun?" Marshall's eyes widened. "Oh god, I'm doing it already!"

He pointed at the buffet table which had all sorts of moddable sandwiches and subs on them.

"Sandwiches! They're delicious and easy to make! Eat them!" Marshall said. "And for the love of god, someone save me from myself!"

"Yeah, you did. You're talking about the sadistic P.E. guy? His hair is pretty cool. Almost makes me wish I'd decided to go the rasta route instead of the punk one. But I thought I'd look like one of those white guys who are total tools and trying to be black. We've got a lot of those back home. White guy tools. Not black guys. I mean, we've got a fair amount of black guys, too. And not to say black guys can't be tools, because they totally can and holy crap, am I being racist? Tell me I'm not being racist."

Priestly snapped his mouth shut sharply and wondered if he could staple his mouth shut and call it a piercing.

"I don't think you're being racist. And that's the truth because...I can't seem to say anything else," Marshall told him. "I hate this town right now."

"Me too. Does this happen a lot? Because I'm trying really hard to keep people from finding out my first name."

And then he took another large bite of BLT. Just in case it tried to come sneaking out his mouth while he wasn't paying enough attention to what he was saying.

"Oh, sure, stuff like this happens all the...what's your first name?" he asked. Marshall could have probably checked the roster but here's the thing...Marshall was lazy.
