Sex Ed, Monday [1-26] Third Period

Today a large poster was displayed at the front of the classroom. "I would just like to start by saying I had nothing to do with the creation of this poster," Steve said, looking faintly embarrassed about it. "But it has an important message. You can't always tell by looking at someone whether they have a venereal disease or not. They may not even know it. That's why protection is so important, and why abstinence is the only really effective way of preventing the spread of disease. Today we're going to have a little exercise to demonstrate this.

"You have the rest of the class period free to mingle and eat these cookies I brought. There is only one requirement: you must shake hands with anyone you talk to. And there is a catch. One of you is--hypothetically, of course--carrying a disease, which is transferred by the shaking of hands. I will tell you who at the end of the period. But don't worry about that for now. Chat. Enjoy the cookies."

"Have you met Myn?" he asked. "Myn Donos. He's my roommate, too." Eric grinned. "It's... convenient."

"Wow, I'd guesss," Dinah said, blinking. "Hunh. Yay? And no, I haven't met him. I'll ask him if he's a junior too, if you think he'd be amused by it."

"A senior, actually," Eric explained. "There have been a few times where he's made some comments about 'robbing the cradle'. It's good, though; it's pretty much all in jest."

"Good for you," Dinah said, grinning, "dating an upperclassmen." She nibbled on one of her cookies. "Okay, topic change: what's your favorite thing about Fandom?"

"It's not New York," Eric answered immediately. That required no thought at all. "Of course, it's also my least favorite thing, so that doesn't help much."

"New York City?" Dinah tilted her head. "You've never heard of New Gotham City, have you? That's where I'm from. Everyone who I've talked about it to says it sounds like there."

Eric shook his head. "Doesn't sound familiar," he said. "Maybe it's a dimensional thing? Maybe New Gotham is New York, where you are."

"Maybe?" Dinah said dubiously. "Could be. No way to tell, I guess. Mine's in New Jersey, not New York." She grinned a little. "And I miss it a lot too, but I kind of like this place a ton."
