Sex Ed, Monday [1-26] Third Period

Today a large poster was displayed at the front of the classroom. "I would just like to start by saying I had nothing to do with the creation of this poster," Steve said, looking faintly embarrassed about it. "But it has an important message. You can't always tell by looking at someone whether they have a venereal disease or not. They may not even know it. That's why protection is so important, and why abstinence is the only really effective way of preventing the spread of disease. Today we're going to have a little exercise to demonstrate this.

"You have the rest of the class period free to mingle and eat these cookies I brought. There is only one requirement: you must shake hands with anyone you talk to. And there is a catch. One of you is--hypothetically, of course--carrying a disease, which is transferred by the shaking of hands. I will tell you who at the end of the period. But don't worry about that for now. Chat. Enjoy the cookies."

"Ohhh," Dinah said, interested, looking at her hard, then looking embarrassed. "My sister's eyes change when she's in a fight. I wondered if it was a mutation or something else. So, you're not a ninja, like Ino is?"

"No," she said, flushing a bit, "perhaps I misspoke? I a-am a ninja--we were in the same class at t-the Academy--but Ino-san's family traits are a different skill set from the Byakugan. That is, my eyes. They a-are used on the field. Your sister's eyes change as w-well?"

"Ohhh." Wow, Dinah so wouldn't have picked Hinata as a ninja, but maybe that was the point--- you'd never see her coming. "And yeah, my sister's eyes slit like a cat's when she's in a fight, especially if there's low lighting."

"Like a cat?" she asked, interested. "Is i-it simply to improve vision? Or is there more t-to it?"

Hinata paused, and flushed. "I'm sorry! Of course, answer o-only if you do not mind my questions."

"I don't mind. Back home it's not really something we talk about in public, but to other people like us, it's an open secret," Dinah said, smiling a little. "And I think it happens when Helena gets pissed off, too, but it's kind of hard to be sure. Given, you know, the circumstances when it happens. She's meta-human, I guess that's a mutation too."

"Like us?" she asked, more curious now. "Y-You are a 'meta-human' as well? Do your e-eyes change?"

"No, my eyes don't change, but--" She looked around, then concentrated hard, and managed to make another chocolate-chip cookie float over to her with only a little wobbling. "I've got other abilities."

"Impressive," she said honestly, watching closely. "None of m-mine are those I would care to show in the class--especially not this class."

Seeing through peoples' clothing during Sex Ed... well, the very idea of it made her blush deepen.

"Oh?" Dinah said, interested, but as Hinata blushed, she added hastily, "Enough said, right?"

"They can...ano... s-see through things, among other skills. Only w-when I want them to, of c-course, I w-wouldn't do s-something like that w-without due n-need."

Hinata found the floor mighty fascinating for the moment, yes.

"Oh, wow." Dinah's blush was matching Hinata's. "Okay, no, not during this class."

"Perhaps s-some other time," she managed, looking a bit mortified. "But this would b-be rather..."

Awful, really.

"Totally totally understood," Dinah said, hand to her face. "Yeah. I mean, in a just cause, but not... dude."

She nodded her head rapidly. "I w-would never leave my room again if I used it without c-cause."

Because she'd probably have spontaneously combusted from embarrassment.

Dinah would've been too tempted. And too embarrassed at that. And then having to stay in her room to stay out of trouble.

"Anyway! Um. Maybe I'll stop by the bookstore, sometime? And we can run through the parts of the play we have together?"

"Yes!" Hinata seized on the subject change gratefully. "I w-would be delighted to go over lines with you. I w-work Tuesdays, so if you ever wanted to come before rehearsal that would be lovely."

"Cool! Next week, maybe, after Geoffrey's given us directions and stuff tomorrow?" Dinah bounced a little, pleased.

"That sounds g-good to me," she said, happy with that. "There will be cookies and tea out, for s-sure. Do you like t-tea?"

Everyone liked cookies, right?

"Sure!" Dinah grinned. "Cool, it's a plan."

Yay cookies!
