Sex Ed, Monday [1-26] Third Period

Today a large poster was displayed at the front of the classroom. "I would just like to start by saying I had nothing to do with the creation of this poster," Steve said, looking faintly embarrassed about it. "But it has an important message. You can't always tell by looking at someone whether they have a venereal disease or not. They may not even know it. That's why protection is so important, and why abstinence is the only really effective way of preventing the spread of disease. Today we're going to have a little exercise to demonstrate this.

"You have the rest of the class period free to mingle and eat these cookies I brought. There is only one requirement: you must shake hands with anyone you talk to. And there is a catch. One of you is--hypothetically, of course--carrying a disease, which is transferred by the shaking of hands. I will tell you who at the end of the period. But don't worry about that for now. Chat. Enjoy the cookies."

((Edit: Disease vector revealed!))

"I believe we're required to do the last, but I should like to do the first as well," he said.

It would be nice if she wasn't the one with the disease, and her expression might have turned a little sneaky, something that was pretty much new to her, when she extended her hand towards him. "How have you been?"

The sneaky flew right past him as he shook her hand.

"Well enough," he said. "And you? I saw you at Cal's birthday, but I didn't want to trouble you. You seemed occupied."

"You wouldn't have troubled me. I met someone new who looked just like someone from my home. It's something, these look alikes. The only difference in appearance is Leto's eyes are a brilliant blue. Have you met him yet?"

He shook his head.

"Not yet, no. Then again, I've also not met anyone who looks exactly like someone from home either."

He'd not been at CopCon or he'd have had one hell of a scare.

"I've met two here who look exactly like my Max from home. Perhaps you know Gavin then?"

"Know of, but I don't think we've ever actually met," he had to admit, "but all I've heard is good."

"He's very decent, yes," she replied.

"How have you been then? I don't see you often enough which is my fault considering I don't nearly leave my room as often as I should."

"I've been out more with the puppy," he admitted, "but not that much. I'm fine, though. Actually, very well. And yourself?"

She smiled at him. "I'm pleased to hear you are doing well, and I would like to meet your puppy soon. I have been fine. I was enganged, did I tell you?"

He nodded.

"I heard about it. I was... a little surprised, honestly."

Then he blinked.

"You haven't met Makejoy?"

Huh. She hadn't. Goodness.

"Believe me, it was a surprise for everyone, myself included."

But she grinned and held up her ringless finger. "I'm not anymore!" She just hadn't told her mother or Edward yet. Hopefully that would go well.

"No, I haven't. She'll no longer be a puppy if I wait any longer to meet her," she joked.

He grinned.

"Well, I'm glad that you're happy about it," he said with a point towards her finger.

"Which means it was for the best.

"Though I'll just have to bring her out to the common room this afternoon or something."

"I think so," she agreed cheerfully. "Not sure what mother is going to say, but I will worry about that later."

Penelope nodded, emphatically. "If you do, I will be sure to find you and her. May I bring her a treat?"

He left the subject of mothers well alone.

"Of course. I'm sure she'd like whatever you got her."

"I will make a trip to town after class. I've never had a pet so will not mine spoiling yours."

Re: Activity

"I'll make sure we're there," he said with a nod.

"Wonderful," she replied, beaming.
