Never one to shy away from getting her hands dirty in the tedious work of helping a student body run nice and smooth ~~not dirty~~, Turtle had been very eager to help set up the club fair again this semester, putting up all the signs and posters and little treats on Westing Paper Products. The Club Schedule was very prominently displayed were everyone could see it before disappearing into the small maze of tables filling in the gym.

That, and it also helped her hold off the inevitable moment of seeing how this whole laundry strike thing was really effecting Jeff. Ahhhh, manual labor, the true opiate of the work-addicted masses.

Penelope found a place to sit on the bleachers. She wasn't sure she was going to join a club, but she would think about it.

Claire was on her way back from getting a drink of water when she noticed Penelope in the bleachers. "Oh!" she called. "Uh. Hi!"

No, she hadn't quite figured out how to broach the topic of Cal visiting.

Penelope grinned when she saw Claire. "Hi, Claire!"

"Hi!" Claire said again, stepping into the bleachers to talk to Penelope. "So, do you know what you're going to sign up for?"

"Most likely music again," she told her. "I love playing the piano too much, to ignore that club. What about you?"

"I started an art club with Ms. Aldrin,' Claire answered. "it's really important to spend time with people who like doing the things you want to do, right? And friends. Frineds are really important."

This was babbling, but babbling with a cause.

Penelope tilted her head at her roommate. She thought she knew Claire well enough by now to know that something was up. She never rambled.

"Friends are important," she said, smiling. "Now, why don't you tell me what's really on your mind?"

Claire babbled when she wanted something and didn't know how to ask for it, was the thing. She raised an eyebrow but seemed almost relieved to be called on it.

"So, um, could I bribe you to find someplace else to be for a couple hours Friday so Cal can come over?"

She was almost wincing by the time she was done talking.

Her grin grew. "The couch in the common room is surprisingly comfortable, Claire. I'm certain I can make do for longer than a couple hours ~~Friday or Saturday?~~." A beat. "If you need me too. I don't mind at all."

"So you aren't still mad at him?" Claire was surprised, but pleased. "Have I told you lately that you are pretty much the best roommate on the planet?"

[OOC: TOTALLY meant Saturday. *facepalm*]

"I'm not mad at him," she said. "He probably meant well, just went about it the wrong way with the wrong words. Pretty much his whole attitude sucked, but no, I'm not mad. Some people are just brass. You like him and that is all that matters to me, Claire," she smiled. "And I'm glad you think that because I feel the same way. You would do the same for me, wouldn't you?"

"In a second, totally," Claire agreed, bouncing a little. "Or even if you just want a night to yourself to think or whatever, let me know and I'll clear out."

"You're great, but I'm certain a time like that will never come up. It's not like you are exceedingly loud or bothersome," she said. "I'm glad you have a boyfriend. Does it feel nice?"

"Ummmmm." Claire went pink. Technically he wasn't her boyfriend, at least he'd never said he was, and she didn't want to be all needy and ask first. But this was Penelope and Penelope was kind of old-fashioned, and it wasn't like he was not her boyfriend.

So.

"I really like time with him," she finally decided to answer, with a smile. "Yeah."

The blush was decidedly noticable and it made Penelope feel really happy for Claire. "I'm glad," she said. "And obviously he is quite fond of you."

"He's neat," Claire said, grinning. "He just ... he gets me. I mean, I know he was a jerk to you or whatever, but he's just really cool."

Penelope looked mildly ashamed. "He wasn't much of one, Claire. Don't think about that anymore."

"I'm not obsessing or anything," Claire protested. And she wasn't, really. She just kind of hoped they'd get along.

She smiled. "When I see him next? I will be entirely pleasant. I would think he would be too."
