Bright and early Saturday morning, Minsc and Boo waited for the small group of bad-doers to show up at the shop classroom for their detention. Normally, the chance to dole out discipline to such unruly teenagers would have him excited and eager, ready to put them through a trial that would help set them on the straight and narrow.

He even had a sign with their names, ready to cross them out when they arrived:

Unfortunately, this week, Minsc was a bad-doer, too. Apparently, encouraging your class to destroy desks was very discouraged.

Once the kids had gathered, Minsc cleared his throat. "Alright, youngling. In this workshop, there are many tools, and, more importantly, many desks and chairs that have been utterly demolished in what I promise you was a truly inspiring display. I am sure you are all here for a very good reason, so I hope you intend to work hard. Today, you will be putting them back together!"

"You only have until two o'clock, so, get to work!"

Minsc would be helping.

Adora had no idea why she was here, but she was no enemy of hard work when it was expected of her. Wondering what had happened to these desks, she focused on finding pieces that seemed to match up.

"I fear this is going to be next to impossible," Adora murmured to herself.

"Everything's impossible with an attitude like that, my lady!" Minsc noted, driving a nail into what was likely a desk leg.

Adora nodded, picking up two pieces of leg and trying to fit them together. "You're right, sir. Let's call it a momentary lapse in fortitude. Is there some reason I was chosen for this task?"

"Usually, such punishment befalls the wicked, my lady," Minsc explained, subtly handing the girl a bottle of woodglue for help. "But I do not ask questions, I merely oversee and see that penance is made!"

"Wicked?" Adora repeated in confusion. "But, I've certainly done nothing wicked here in Fandom!" Could they be punishing her for before?

"I suppose," Minsc mused, after weighing the level of sincerity in the girl, "there is a certain margin of error in these sorts of things. A mistake could have been made."

"Oh! So I could be serving the punishment for someone else's crime?" That didn't seem fair, but it was better than people thinking she'd done something terrible.

"I would hope not!" Minsc's eyes widened slightly. "Because that would mean an evil doer is going unpunished!" And that, as everyone knew, was one of the most horrible things imaginable. Minsc shook his head fervently. "No, no, my lady, it has to simply be...a paper-work error! It must! If it is not, then we are wasting valuable time with justice unserved!"

Adora was a little concerned with his focus on justice. It sounded rather harsh. She took up the wood glue and started pouring it all over the pieces before her. "If you say so, sir."

Minsc nodded. "Just a paperwork error," he repeated, more to convince himself, but it was something he was definitely looking into.

And, if it wasn't a paperwork error and the lady was indeed supposed to be here, well, then, she was a lying shrew.
