Care for Magical Creatures; Friday, Period 2 [ 01/09 ].

When the students arrived for their class today, they'd find themselves in just a regular old classroom. But not for long.

"Good morning, younglings!" Minsc, the very large fellow with the scars and the armour and the tattoos and...the hamster...greeted the students boisterously, pounding a fist down on the large desk in front of the blackboard. "Welcome to Care for Magical Creatures! I am your teacher, Minsc, and this is my companion, Boo! In a moment, we shall get started, but at the moment, there is something very important we must do first! These desks! They are evil! They are restrictive! Up! Up out of the desk and quickly, children, we must destroy them entirely and make some proper space in this room!"

"Up, up!" Minsc waved his arms to encourage his students to his feet and, with a great, guttural sort of battlecry, he lifted his foot and kicked it straight into one of the desks. It went flying from the impressive blow, toward the front of the room, smashing into a thousand pieces against the blackboard and settling in a small pile of broken legs and pieces.

"Well? What are you waiting for? Vanquish these desks!"

[[ please wait for the OCD is ready for battle! ]]

Large green birds.

Merlin was just going to go with that. "Like large chickens?"
raspberryturk: (Reno knows better)

"... More or less, yeah, actually." Reno pulled his phone from his pocket and flipped through until he found a picture of one from the wrong game, but ignore that. "People saddle 'em up and ride 'em. Right now, they're the most reliable form of transportation Gaia's got, since most of our energy sources crashed and burned, yo."

"Those are common?!" And that was a very tiny painting too. Which Merlin was reaching out to touch to see if it was like the Tee Vee.
raspberryturk: (Mmmhmm)

"Well, yeah, kinda, if you know where to look." Reno blinked and held the phone out for the guy to get a better looksee. "I got more pictures of 'em on here, too, but they're mostly of baby ones. Uh. Blue baby ones. You breed 'em right, they hatch different colors."

Gaia was a wealth of weirdness, really.

Gaia and Albion both.

"But there are none here?" Merlin almost sounded sad he couldn't actually see one. Even if, with his luck, it would try to eat him.
raspberryturk: (As A Matter of Fact)

"Not unless Fandom turns me into one again," Reno mused, and then shrugged. "Been wonderin' if the stables here can handle somethin' like that, though. I got me an' my girl each one over break, they're bein' taken care of by the breeder until we grad this summer."

Because that was just what Fandom needed, really. A giant blue riding turkey or two.

"For the sake of the stables, we can always hope they do should you turn into one," Merlin said. Seriously. Really.
raspberryturk: (No faaaair)

"Yeah, that'd be real gr-" Heeeeey.

...

That wasn't a pout, dammit.

"Gryphons are still cooler, yo."

Merlin offered him a sympathetic look for that. "Knowing my luck, I'd just turn into a merlin."
raspberryturk: (Serious)

"The fish? Here's hopin' you're at least somewhere near the water for that one, man. That'd suck, yo."

It possibly said a great deal about Fandom that Reno didn't think this was terribly unlikely.

"It's a fish here?" Merlin asked, frowning and making a note to look that up in the dictionary. "Back home it's a hunting bird."
raspberryturk: (Reno knows better)

Reno scratched his head at that.

"Or maybe I'm thinkin' of a marlin. I dunno. The animals from this place always confuse the heck outta me. Unless it's somethin' normal, like a cat, yo."

"Like the squirrels?" Who were drunks.
raspberryturk: (Sly Glance)

"You kiddin'? You met the squirrels? I worked with them furry little turds for like a year. There ain't nothin' normal about them, either."

Reno's first clue had been the fedoras.

"But they do got good taste in booze, I gotta say."

Merlin's had been the kidnapping. "Do they normally bribe people with alcohol to read notes?"
raspberryturk: (Bitchplease)

Re: Discussion -- 01/09.

[personal profile] raspberryturk 2009-01-09 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"There would be somethin' seriously the matter with them," Reno replied gravely, "if there wasn't alcohol involved in the process somewheres."

"Is it really that bad?"
raspberryturk: (Headtilt)

Re: Discussion -- 01/09.

[personal profile] raspberryturk 2009-01-09 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Define 'bad.'" It was all a matter of perspective, really.

Reno could drink most of those squirrels under the table.

"Worth attempting to use a crossbow on," Merlin supplied.
raspberryturk: (And?)

Re: Discussion -- 01/09.

[personal profile] raspberryturk 2009-01-09 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Reno took a moment to consider that one.

"Nah. Not that bad. So far as I can tell, you offer 'em booze, and they'll be good to you, so long as you read the notes for 'em."

Merlin glanced over at Arthur. "I'll make sure to keep that in mind."
