fandomhigh | Movie Appreciation: Week 1, Period 3 (Fri. 1/9)

In time for third period, the Danger Shop had been transformed into a large movie theater complete with a stage in front of the screen. On the stage this morning, stood a large man with dreads who wore a leather ensemble that either screamed pot head or alien based on your point of view.

"Movies. People on Earth can't get enough of 'em. You may know I'm not from this galaxy, but I've seen enough movies in the past few years to have figured out it's all about entertainment. Which is where you come in." He stalked across the stage, trying to catch a few student's eyes as he went along. "This class is to appreciate movies. We'll watch clips an' discuss the types. I'm gonna ask you to spend a couple hours outside class watching some other movies as the semester goes along. Do it, don't, you're the one who won't get to kick Sheppard in the face when we act out ~~meta for~~ Hot Fuzz." Sadly for John, he wasn't kidding.

"This week we're doin' the intro thing. Tell us your name and describe your favorite movie. Then we'll see if anyone knows what the hell you're talkin' about and can guess the title. If you've never seen a movie or don't have a favorite, tell everybody why you're here."

"He does have some great gadgets," Rodney nodded enthusiastically, "and they're even better in the second one. But I don't think I'd want to ride in the Ratmobile with him driving."

"Welll, no," Dinah admitted. "Especially not if I was high on a hallucinogen at the time. I kinda thought his girlfriend in the first movie should have a stay in a mental hospital after that." She grinned. "But still! Swinging on wires! So cool."

Rodney grinned. "Anyone dating him should have a room reserved at a mental institution since they're bound to be kidnapped and tortured at some point if the stress of keeping his secrets doesn't drive them there first. It's the curse of the dedicated genius to always be alone," he sighed.

"Unless they're already some crazed, revenge-driven mercenary or super-vigilante or ... I don't know, anti-heroine?" Dinah might have wibbled a little there. "But genius shouldn't be alone! The smartest woman I know... okay, her luck sucks. Now, I'm bummed. Great."

"Welcome to my life," Rodney muttered.
