Leadership: Wednesday, Period 1, Class 1. (1/7/09)

"Morning everyone," Nathan said. He took a spot at the head of the class. He was, as near darned always, dressed in a suit. "I'm Mr. Petrelli. For anyone here who might be close with my brother Peter, I'm still Mr. Petrelli."

Nathan handed out the syllabus and class rules. "Here's the overview of the class for the semester. Make sure to read it as OOC rules are in there too. Because I'm a lawyer there is the fine print of classes being subject to change at any time.

"Today's class is going to be very easy though. First, I want everyone to introduce themselves with their name and why they're taking the class. Second?"

Nathan sat down behind his desk, looking for all the world like he was done for the day. "Someone needs to be in charge of this class. Let me know if you figure out who that is."

"Well, it could be kind of like mob rule," Zayne said. "If we started talking really loud or just didn't pay attention, you wouldn't be able to teach or anything. And you wouldn't have power over us unless you managed to take it back with threats of bad grades or detentions."

"Not that I'm saying that would be a good thing. But it could happen."

"Good point," Nathan said, pleased that Zayne had brought that up. "That's a key part of leadership. If you can't get people to follow you then you're not much of a leader. Likewise, you can lose the job as easily as get it. You could stage a coup on me, I could try to stage another one to get my power back."

"I promise not to stage any coups," Zayne said, feeling a little relief that his point went over well.

"I'll do my best to try not to deserve one," Nathan replied with a grin.
