Leadership: Wednesday, Period 1, Class 1. (1/7/09)

"Morning everyone," Nathan said. He took a spot at the head of the class. He was, as near darned always, dressed in a suit. "I'm Mr. Petrelli. For anyone here who might be close with my brother Peter, I'm still Mr. Petrelli."

Nathan handed out the syllabus and class rules. "Here's the overview of the class for the semester. Make sure to read it as OOC rules are in there too. Because I'm a lawyer there is the fine print of classes being subject to change at any time.

"Today's class is going to be very easy though. First, I want everyone to introduce themselves with their name and why they're taking the class. Second?"

Nathan sat down behind his desk, looking for all the world like he was done for the day. "Someone needs to be in charge of this class. Let me know if you figure out who that is."

"School rules, I suppose," Ichigo shrugged a shoulder. "You can't expect us to listen to you if we don't recognise your authority in this room."

"Good point," Nathan said. "Are school rules enough to make me leader?"

"No," he replied. "Though, if you have a nice enough students it could work, but that doesn't mean you can hack it."

"Good point," Nathan said. "What else would make me leader of the class?"

Ichigo considered it for a moment. "If you have something to confirm that you're in charge when they don't follow your rules."

"Like what?" Nathan asked.

Ichigo snorted. "Detention might work?"

"Is punishment my only way of keeping my leadership?" Nathan asked.

Ichigo tilted his head, considering Nathan. "In general? No, but I don't know your strengths. It depends on the person, there's several ways you can get people to do what you want. I guess punishment is more when you fail to enforce the rules so you have to make them feel you are in charge and then hopefully the threat of punishment will be enough later on."

Well, it was class so he kind of had to give his input. "Um. You're welcome, sir? Was this a test?"

"Nah," Nathan said. "You'll know when I give tests."
