Sex Ed, Monday [1-5] Third Period

The classroom was pretty bare, since Steve had gotten into town on Saturday and hadn't had time to get any posters or anything yet. Heck, his apartment wasn't even furnished. So the only indication students were in the right place was 'Sex Ed' written in large block letters on the chalkboard. Steve figured it was as good a signal as any. He stood in front of his desk with his arms crossed, looking imposing, and waited until everyone was settled to begin.

"Good morning. I trust that by third period everybody's had their coffee, so I will tolerate no sleeping in my class. I am Steve Rogers. Mr. Rogers is fine, Professor Rogers is fine, I will even answer to Steve. And for those of you who might remember, yes, I am the same Steve Rogers who was here last year. This is Sex Ed. If you did not sign up for Sex Ed, you can leave now. If you signed up for Sex Ed with the intention of behaving immaturely, please don't." Mr. Madrox went unsaid, but hung heavy in the air. "Anything we discuss in this room does not leave it. I have no control over the radio squirrels, but outside of this room, I trust you all to be circumspect about things learned about your fellow students learned in it. We may at times have a guest. I can't control him, so please ignore Mr. Stark."

Then he uncrossed his arms and grinned. "So. Pretty straightforward first class; it's not in the handbook but I'm given to believe the introductions week is obligatory. I want to get to know you and what I've gotten myself into here, and I'd like for you to get to know each other, since we'll be discussing some pretty sensitive topics here and I want everyone to feel safe doing so. At the least, I'd like to hear your name and where you're from, since I've found that can be instructive, if you've had any instruction in sex education before, and what you'd like to get out of this class. Any other information you'd like to share is welcome, as well. Then we'll have some free time for you to talk among yourselves or ask me any questions you might have right away. That sound good?" He didn't wait for an answer. "Good. We'll start with you," he said, pointing to a student at random.

No blushing just yet, it's still only the first day of class and the word 'sex' doesn't seem to bother him much. When the class begins to delve into more of the logistics and such, then he may start with the blushing.

Liir had noticed some of the, well...

It was hard to describe, but for some unknown reason had him offering a wave.

Pardon him for being confused, but he doesn't actually spend much time around friendly people. Or, he hasn't in the past.

He gives an awkward wave in return.

"New?" he asked quietly. It was the first class, which meant discussion was a little more tolerated, but he tended towards quiet anyway.

"Yeah." In more senses of the word that he'd care to elaborate on, at least from his perspective on things.

"I suppose someone's told you all about this place already," he continued.

"Did you have a good time at the picnic?"

"I got a little info, yeah."

A light shrug. "The picnic was all right. I'm not much on social gatherings."

He grinned just a little and ducked his head.

"Nor I, really. Last time, I set up a little spot near a tree for people who just want a drink and some food and quiet."

"I should hope so," he said with a nod of his head, "though there'll be one at the start of the next semester as well, if you're here for it."

He sighs. "This and Ethics."

"I've not taken that course," Liir said with a tilt of his head. He leaned on one arm.

"Did you get what you wanted?"

He snorts at that. "No. I got the classes that were assigned to me." He's obviously not happy with this turn of events.

He winced.

"That happens. At least you don't have to take a class dedicated to teaching you to be rude and snobbish."

He had. He hadn't liked it much.

"They have classes for that?" he asks, bewildered.

He nodded.

"I was surprised to see it too and terribly surprised to find myself taking it," he said with a wince.

"What's terrible is I like the professor when he isn't teaching that."

"I wasn't, but I didn't want a bad grade so I tried... while in class. Then was glad when it was over."

There was the final, of course, but he wouldn't mention that.

"Mine involved no teaching and lots of housework," he said.

"If there's anything you need to ask that you might feel a bit odd asking others about, you're welcome to bother me about it.

"Or if you're hungry."
