Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

If anyone had hoped for good weather for the picnic, their wish had been granted as the day turned out to be sunny and warm. Everything had been cleaned up, spiffed up and bedazzled dazzled made as perfect as possible for the new arrivals. They deserved at least a few moments of pleasantness before the weirdness started to sink in.

May whatever deity they believed in help them now.

As usual, there were long tables set up with food and drinks, a table of nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students. With everything in place, the picnic was ready to begin.

[OCD is up!! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

"Blair! It's wonderful to meet you. I'm so glad to have a big sibling here to show me how things work here in Fandom," Adora replied enthusiastically. She was so desperate to learn it hurt.

Desperate to learn was okay. Blair could work with that. "Consider me your one-stop shopping needs for all Fandom related information. Though it would probably help if you gave me a little context about where you're from?"

"Um, are you going to be upset if I say I'm not from this planet?" Adora was getting the feeling that was the wrong answer most of the time. At least on the transport.

"You wouldn't be the first," Blair assured her. "What's your planet like?"

Adora was thoughtful for a moment. "More colorful. Fewer of the vehicles like Mister Deadpool drove. It's a very nice place with plenty of space for everyone to live however they like."

"So more country-like?" Blair guessed. "Meaning not crowded with buildings like a city? Do you have any technology at all?"

"There is a great deal of technology, and magic, too, we just only use it to meet our needs," Adora explained. "But there are some, like the Horde, who have space craft and that sort of thing."

"So not too much of a learning curve then," Blair said. "Things will be different, but you have frames of reference it sounds like. I'm from this planet - or a version of it, at least. My family is from the Upper East Side of Manhattan. That would be a very large city and only the finest families are allowed to live there."

It was amazing how she could brag about herself while making it sound helpful and informative.

"Ooh," Adora was impressed by the idea of large cities with good people in them. "Are you some sort of royalty in your world?"

"Yes," Blair replied. Then, because one never knew, she asked, "Are you?"

Adora blushed, she was just not used to it yet, "I recently discovered I'm a princess, actually. It's a very strange thing, but I'm sure you could help teach me, Blair!" Blair seemed very knowledgeable about these things. "Have you been in Fandom long?"

A royal little sib? Who needed Blair to guide her? Clearly Blair's birthday had come early.

"A while," Blair said. "I would be more than happy to teach you. I can introduce you to the right people, and educate you on what it's like to be a part of proper society here. Of course I can help you with clothing as well."

Adora beamed, Blair was so generous and helpful and she was Adora's big sister! "That would be wonderful! My mother sent me with clothes she hoped would help me fit in, but I can already tell blending will require a little something extra." Most of her clothes being made of that stretchy spandex and all.

"We'll go shopping," Blair told her. "There's actually a shop here on the island that's acceptable. It can be our place to start."

"Shopping. You know, I think I'm going to like this sibling thing," Adora responded. "I've never had a sister."

"I'll introduce you to my Big Brother sometime," Blair said. She was glad John hadn't turned out to be a total loser. "I'm just glad I can pass the good Fandom karma forward."

That was her story and she was sticking to it.
