Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

If anyone had hoped for good weather for the picnic, their wish had been granted as the day turned out to be sunny and warm. Everything had been cleaned up, spiffed up and bedazzled dazzled made as perfect as possible for the new arrivals. They deserved at least a few moments of pleasantness before the weirdness started to sink in.

May whatever deity they believed in help them now.

As usual, there were long tables set up with food and drinks, a table of nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students. With everything in place, the picnic was ready to begin.

[OCD is up!! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

Tearing her eyes away from the crowd, Dana nodded. "Yes. You caught me while I'm still admitting to that and before I could run away. Hi."

"It isn't half so bad as it seems," Eliza smiled, willfully ignoring such things as the island mysteriously turning its residents into vampyres. "And the students are unorthodox, but eager to learn, for the most part. My name is Miss Elizabeth Bennet, and I believe I've been assigned to assist you."

"Oh yeah," Dana said. "Nice to meet you. Been here long?" Which may have been Dana gauging how crazy this place may have madeher.

"Only a semester," Eliza said. Apparently, the insanity took hold fast? "Which means I am, perhaps, ill-equipped to be functioning as an adviser to anyone new. The rather tall gentleman with the long hair was my ... 'buddy,' I believe they call it, so I may defer to his expertise if mine fails."

She pointed out Ronon, who was looking ... distinctive as always.

Dana studied him for a moment, and asked, "Are we sure he hasn't eaten any students who've pissed him off?"

Eliza opened her mouth, and then closed it again, wavering.

"He says that he threatens the students with knives, to keep them attentive," she explained. "I'm ... quite certain that he's kidding."

... Really.

"Ok-aaaaaaaaay, gonna have to watch for him on the news," Dana decided. "Anyone else I need to know about?"

Eliza considered, before nodding towards Zoe. "That kind lady is the Headmistress, Principal Winchester," she noted. "She holds the weekly faculty meetings, which are usually quite pleasant affairs."

There was tea and pie, and they could freely discuss the students. Very nice.

"Pleasant? Even with the student-eater?" Had to double check whether Eliza was just being polite.

"He can be quite charming, once one is acquainted with him," she reassured the other woman. "Also, there are quite a number of baked goods."

Pie made everything better.

"Which does improve things, I'll give it that. Even if now I'm craving some," Dana agreed. "What do you teach?"

"Literature," Eliza smiled. "Which is somewhat complicated, since some of the students are avid readers and others have never set foot in a library in their lives, but enjoyable, nonetheless. What is it that you are to be teaching?"
