Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

If anyone had hoped for good weather for the picnic, their wish had been granted as the day turned out to be sunny and warm. Everything had been cleaned up, spiffed up and ~~bedazzled~~ ~~dazzled~~ made as perfect as possible for the new arrivals. They deserved at least a few moments of pleasantness before the weirdness started to sink in.

May whatever deity they believed in help them now.

As usual, there were long tables set up with food and drinks, a table of nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students. With everything in place, the picnic was ready to begin.

[OCD is up!! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

"That would be int he job description," Merlin admitted. "...don't you have them here?"

"Uh, not here here," Hannibal said. "And they're not really called servants. And they get paid."

Merlin just stared. "Northumbria is much different than I thought."

"Well, this place is a lot different than most places," he replied. "Maybe you won't have to be a servant here."

Merlin snorted in amusement. "I don't think you've met Arthur yet."

"You're the first person I've met so nope, haven't," Hannibal said. "He's a bitchy prince?"

Most princes in movies were bitchy.

Merlin was not going to laugh at that. Merlin was not going to laugh at that. "He's not that bad. He's-- learning."

"So, you're his servant," Hannibal said. "Are you his friend too?"

"Not that he'll admit it," Merlin said under his breath.

"You know, it might be tough to be his servant here," Hannibal said. "Unless you guys took the same classes."

"Classes?"

"You...are at a school," Hannibal said slowly. "You know that, right?"

"...We were here for Arthur to rest after he was injured," Merlin said, eyes wide. "Where would I find the school?"

"It's the big building right over my shoulder," he said. "You aren't supposed to be here, then?"

"No, we were on our way to Northumbria," Merlin replied. "Where are we?"

"Place called Fandom," Hannibal said. "Island. I have no idea where Northumbria is."

"Northern Albion," Merlin replied, as if that was something anyone should know. "We're on an island?"

"Yeeeep," Hannibal said. Poor Merlin. Poor poor Merlin. "You weren't expecting this, were you?"

"Was it some sort of magic?" Because he didn't do anything! At least... he hoped not. After Nimueh, he wasn't sure what was possible anymore.

"Dude, I have no idea," Hannibal admitted. Poor Merlin. "I mean, this isn't a dangerous place, if you're concerned."

Not usually.

Non-dangerous things some how managed to be dangerous around Arthur! it was a fact!

"I should find Arthur before something happens to him..."

"That's fine," Hannibal said, a little concerned. "You're not gonna freak out and run amok, are you?"

"I give you my word I won't run amok," Merlin said, giving him a hopeful little smile.

"I'm up on the fourth floor if you need me," Hannibal said. "And I'll try and find you, see how you're doing."

And find this prince guy too.

"Fourth floor," Merlin repeated. "I will look for you then."
