Chemistry, Period 1, 12/19

"Hi," Tyler greeted the class as they gathered. The classroom was utterly nondescript today, with all the lab equipment packed away, though there was a pony lying on a cushion in a front corner of the room loudly chomping an apple and occasionally glaring at students who were rude enough to stare at him.

"You have been a fantastic class. I, however, am going to be the cruel teacher who makes you actually take a real final on the last day before break. Test papers are on your desks: You have all period to answer any five of the ten questions. If you need help that is not 'what's the answer to number seven', I will be around."

"Thanks again, guys."

Tyler went to lean against his desk and watch the students take the test.

"That is something special," Rikku grinned. "I didn't get you anything. Should I have? I'm so bad with these holiday-things."

"Nah, I'm not even sure I should have gotten you anything," Tyler returned. "Don't worry about it."

"But you did, because you're awesome," Rikku said, bouncing on her toes and tearing into the wrapping again. "Oooooh. Dude!"

She sniffed at the round powdery bomb. "This is one of those bath things, isn't it? I love those. It smells awesome, too!"

"Figured orange went with orange," Tyler noted. "You're welcome. I had fun making it."

"Thank you," she bounced. "And thanks for letting me be TA. It was awesome. And for having the Science Fair, because that was seriously badass."

"Sorry you had to win by default," Tyler shrugged. "Bad timing, I guess."

He didn't look too broken up about it.

"I don't mind winning however I win," she grinned. "Actually, I just ... I'm glad I had that to work on, you know? I had the idea kicking around for a while and I never would have thrown it together if I didn't have a reason."
