"Welcome to your last class," Nathan said. "Today's the final. If you've been paying attention you should find it easy. You can leave once you're done, though I wouldn't advocate rushing through it just for that. If you have any questions, I'm here."

Ender's essay was long, but pointed-- and geared towards making sure you fixed the problems first, so that the people knew they could trust you, and trust your decisions. To be kind in some places and firm in the others, weather criticism, and any number of the things he'd learned both in this class and in his own tenure back home.

He came out feeling roughly the opposite of what he'd felt doing the ethics exam: he felt hopeful.

It was a ridiculous thing to feel hopeful about, but he was going to take it anyway.
