Physics, Monday, Class #15, Period 4

The class had been handwavily contacted to meet Sam outside for the final class, so hopefully they were appropriately dressed for the weather and the proceedings.

"Hello, everyone," Sam greeted them cheerfully from where she was standing next to a table covered with lots of pumpkins of approximately the same size and weight. "Congratulations, you've almost made it through the class. All you have to do today is explain your pumpkin chucker design, what principles of physics you relied on primarily, and then, well, chuck your pumpkin. Whomever wins gets the J,GoB pie of their choice."

She paused. "No, I'm not baking it, calm down. No reason to sabotage this." After she'd cleared her throat, she continued, "I'd also like to thank you for being such an attentive class, and a pleasure to teach. I know the material has sometimes been dense, but I'm very proud of the effort you've put in and home that, at some point, something you've learned here will be useful."

Romeo waited for Ichigo and prepared to start waving his hand right off.

Ichigo was there and all about the handwaving. "Think we can claim science explains itself?" he asked in a low murmur.
withoutverona: (lips only)

"We could compare it to the cat somehow," Romeo suggested in his own whisper. "The act of explaining destroys the explained, something like that."

"Something that speaks for itself needs not be explained as it is already understood?" Ichigo tried, having the feeling this might work better in Miss Bennet's class.

"We are men of action; she need only see the pumpkin chucker work to understand our mastery of the science behind it," Romeo nodded firmly. "It will be fine."

That was if the thing actually worked, but Ichigo wasn't going to be cought in such negative thoughts. "Straight As," he nodded. "Okay, I'll get the pumpkin."

Romeo too refused to be negative. "I'm ready when you are," he vowed.

Then obviously this was going to go just fine, because they could make things fine by just thinking it would be. Yep, that worked.

Ichigo took a moment to try and find the pumpkin that looked neither too heavy or too light. He was going to ignore that whole the same thing right there. Then having settled on one, he returned to put it on the trebuchet.

"Maybe it does need some sort of intro?" he whispered at Romeo, feeling a bit silly now.

Romeo shrugged a little. "I can improvise some speech, if it's needed."

With one more glance at Ichigo, though, he stepped forward and briefly (well, briefly for Romeo) explained how their trebuchet would work and the process they had gone through in designing it. "And now Ichigo and I will fire it off," he finished.

Huh. Ichigo decided that he did like team work a whole lot. He got to do the cool stuff.

He pulled the lever and the trebuchet instantly set in motion, firing the pumpkin. Sadly whatever mechanisms Romeo and Ichigo were supposed to set up did shoot the pumpkin off, but it seems to be mostly aimed down and the pumpkin didn't get all that far before it exploded in a million, squashy pieces.

"I don't think we're going to reach the third floor," Ichigo sighed.
