Physics, Monday, Class #15, Period 4

The class had been handwavily contacted to meet Sam outside for the final class, so hopefully they were appropriately dressed for the weather and the proceedings.

"Hello, everyone," Sam greeted them cheerfully from where she was standing next to a table covered with lots of pumpkins of approximately the same size and weight. "Congratulations, you've almost made it through the class. All you have to do today is explain your pumpkin chucker design, what principles of physics you relied on primarily, and then, well, chuck your pumpkin. Whomever wins gets the J,GoB pie of their choice."

She paused. "No, I'm not baking it, calm down. No reason to sabotage this." After she'd cleared her throat, she continued, "I'd also like to thank you for being such an attentive class, and a pleasure to teach. I know the material has sometimes been dense, but I'm very proud of the effort you've put in and home that, at some point, something you've learned here will be useful."

Romeo waited for Ichigo and prepared to start waving his hand right off.

Thanks to Hoshi's influence, the steam-powered chucker looked well-designed, rather than monstrous and crude.

"THIS," Sokka announced, with a grand sweep of his hand, "is the Sokkanator five-- uh. The Sokka-and-Hoshi-nator 5000! A miracle of pumpkin-chucking technology, constructed entirely of materials that are available in my universe. We've wedded eighteenth-century technology and twenty-fourth-century know-how into one AWESOME package!"

"It turns out that you can't beat good old-fashioned steam technology," added Hoshi. "It's been relied upon for generations and, more importantly, it won't explode."

"Unless you sabotage it," Sokka added. "There's a lot of pressure in a boiler, and if you can attack that just right, then the whole thing will go up in smoke." His eyes lit up. "I wonder if we can make boiler-seeking pumpkins?"

"Maybe we should demonstrate how this pumpkin chucker works before starting on a new project," suggested Hoshi.

"Well, yeah, of course," Sokka told her. "I'm just saying, is all. Maybe boiler-seeking pumpkins filled with explosives!"

Tosh waited for Chad so they could most likely handwave describe their project.

"Okay, so this is pretty much a trebuchet," Sam said. "Uh, with some handwavy, probably terrifying modifications." He proceeded to explain how a trebuchet worked with the skill of someone who'd had it explained to them by Tony Stark, then dumbed down to their level to Wikipedia.

Ichigo was there and all about the handwaving. "Think we can claim science explains itself?" he asked in a low murmur.

"We could compare it to the cat somehow," Romeo suggested in his own whisper. "The act of explaining destroys the explained, something like that."

"Something that speaks for itself needs not be explained as it is already understood?" Ichigo tried, having the feeling this might work better in Miss Bennet's class.
