Hands-On Art, Class #10, Period 1

"Morning, class," Lily greeted everyone when the last person had arrived. "So it's two days before Thanksgiving and who actually wants to be here today yeah I thought so. I'll tell you what. I'm going to go easy on you, and today you get a movie, and I've got sugar cookies. Ignore that they are holiday-themed, blame consumerism. The movie's about an artist, so we're on topic. And if you're really ambitious, you can take notes and look like you're working. Enjoy the movie, have a great holiday, and don't kill anyone at the stores on Friday."

"Yes, she can," Angela confirmed with a matching smile. "And very nice dreams they are."

"Mmm... 'specially since the only guy I've actually really kissed since I've been here was talking about the girl he slept with on the news last night."

Angela shot her a sympathetic look.

"Dean?" she assumed.

"Yeah. Hey, no, no," she said quickly. "It's not like I thought the guy was gonna be my one true love or anything. He was very clear upfront that if we went any further it was totally non-exclusive. Just... it's a bit of a jump from thinking about that to hearing him talk about it on the radio. It's totally fine, though."

"Still, not something you really want to know about," Angela said.

"If it helps, my list extends to my roommate and Chuck, so--" She shrugged.

"Oooh... kind of forgot about Chuck," Peyton said. "Still, I didn't kiss him, did I? No, I'm sure I didn't."

"You'd probably remember if you did," Angela said. For all his faults, Chuck was pretty good at that.

"Oh really?" Peyton said with a smirk.

"Just saying," she returned with a laugh.

"Think I should give him another shot?" Peyton asked archly.

Angela shrugged thoughtfully. "Just make sure you're in the right state of mind at the time?" she asked.

Peyton shrugged back. "Not planning to do anything with anyone. Just doesn't seem worth it at the moment."

"Having taken a pretty long unplanned hiatus from men," Angela said. "It seems worth it to me. Maybe that's the key?"

"Long hiatuses from men?" Peyton said with a smirk. "Maybe."

"Take a break, end up with about three," Angela joked.

"Three is about two too many for me," Peyton said with a laugh. "I'm afraid I'm not as adventurous as you are."

"Well, it's not like I don't want to cut it down to just the one," Angela pointed out.

"Got a preference on the one?" Peyton asked with a grin.

Angela gave her a look. Come on, like there wasn't a really obvious choice for her there.

Peyton grinned and put up her hands. "Hey, just wondering. I mean, you're both into each other, you're living together - or as good as - and the kissing/dating thing is going well... But then you're kissing and dating other guys, so a girl has to wonder."

"No matter what it might look like sometimes, we're not actually dating," she said. "And knowing my track record, it wouldn't last if we did. Like you said, we live together, messing with it just seems like a bad idea."

"I'll trade roomies with you," Peyton offered with a smirk. "Meg's great, but Hannibal's a lot hotter."

Angela smirked right back. "Not a chance," she replied.

"Uh huh... that's what I thought," Peyton laughed.
