Phys Ed: Week 10, Period 2 (Fri. 11/14)

"Football," Ronon announced once students had arrived in the gym, tossing a ball between his hands, "is some great legendary game on Earth. People sing tributes to it and collect videos of important games. They also wear full body armor to protect from death by leather. I still say Earth is weird."

"The computer said I should call it American Football since we're playin' with our hands, not our feet. Also, the ball's not round. Helps it get better lift and speed." Ronon went on to demonstrate how to properly throw and catch a football.

He gestured to the bins of footballs and gear. "Get your uniform, a ball, and practice throwing the ball to a partner."

"Well, yeah," he had to agree. "But still, tackling's fun. We used to play it without padding in my old school. I broke a few ribs playing football."

She perked up. "We should play it that way."

Because violence made things more fun.

"You want to play the rib breaking way?" Hannibal could get with that.

She nodded. "That definitely sounds more fun."

"We could play Smear the Unlucky Sonofabitch," he proposed. "That's where one of us has the ball and has to try and get it past the other person."

Ino laughed. "Let's do that then!"

"You want to try and get it past me first or want me to try and get it past you?" Hannibal asked.

Ino suspected that if she was really trying it wouldn't be very hard to get past him.

"You try and get it past me," she decided, grinning.

"All righty," he said, taking a few steps back. He tucked the ball under one arm and contemplated strategy.

"Look! Ichigo's over there!"

He had to tr.

"He's in this class." Ino scoffed, snickering, even as her eyes glanced over to see if he really was over there.

"I love that you know that," Hannibal said, taking the split second glance as an opening to take off running, trying to slip by her.

"It is week ten," she said, rolling her eyes.

And attempting to trip him.

He tried to jump, caught the tip of his foot on her leg and stumbled forward, not down yet.

"Still!" he shouted, lurching forward as he tried to regain his balance.

Ino laughed, and attempted a tackle then.

A tiny girl against a not-so-tiny guy. Ino pretended she didn't know just how ridiculously adorable that would look.

He thought he'd make it by her before she actually tried tackling him, adding an extra weight to his run and slowing him considerably.

Combine that with him still being off balance and he ended up in a heap on his stomach with the ball squirting out and wriggling away.

With an oof as they went down, Ino scrambled to her feet, darting for the football and scooping it up.

"Ha!"

"Cheater!"

She hadn't been cheating.

He got to his feet and took off after her, trying to use his size and longer legs to catch her.

She darted away from him, laughing and swift on her feet.

"I am not!"

"Are too!" He tried to keep pace, even reaching out a hand to take a few wild swipes in hopes of knocking her off balance.

"I am not!" She made a face when one swipe brushed her hair, then another her arm and Ino swerved. "Watch the hair, geez!"

"Don't be so vain!" he laughed, making a last ditch effort at tackling her by actually leaping and trying to take her down by the legs.

She shrieked, playfully, and let him take her down. No point in making the game no fun for either of them.

Ino curled around the ball. "You'll never get it!"

"Do you want me to tickle you?" Hannibal mock threatened. "Cuz I will!"

"I kick!" she warned him.

"I have padding!" Hannibal said and laughed. "Muscles to pad that kick!"
