Phys Ed: Week 9, Period 2 (Fri. 11/7)

The gym this week was set up a little differently when students entered. In the center of the gym stood a stationary pole with a volleyball secured to the pole by a length of rope. Next to the pole stood the instructor. "I am told Tetherball is a fierce sport. Two players stand on opposite sides of the pole, one trying to wrap the tether clockwise around the pole while their opponent tries for counter-clockwise."

Ronon smacked the ball, sending it wrapping around the pole. "Hopefully it's more of a challenge with a partner. Get your uniforms on and find one. Let's see what you can do."

Friday was much slower than usual getting changed into his uniform. Having to stop to blow his nose every thirty seconds didn't help with that.

Grogginess and tetherball does not mix. Nevertheless, Friday in all his groggy glory stood on one side of pole, occasionally blowing his nose that wouldn't stop running. The red eyes and less than chipper disposition were a giveaway that he had developed a cold.

Helen changed, only a little grumpily.

Helen stared at the tetherball. This was yet another things she didn't quite see the point of.

Hannibal was so over the issue of bitching about uniforms that he barely even minded putting the ugly thing on.

Hannibal wasn't a master of tetherball but he was strong enough to be able to smack some balls around.

I never got to play tetherball at school and I feel as if somehow my childhood is incomplete because of it.

I never got to play it either. I mean, I could have but I always played football. Tetherball was lame and you didn't get to tackle cute boys.

Francine kind of wanted to see the teacher's ass with Fandom High plastered across it.

In fact, the thought of that image kept her humming happily to herself as she suited up. And possibly for the rest of the day.

Francine on the other hand was disturbingly perky for someone who still tended to associate sports with How can I get injured or humiliated today? Don't you just hate morning people?

"I think this is about my speed," she said, reflexively tugging her t-shirt down a bit as she bounced up to the pole. "Balls on strings that can't come out of nowhere to whap me on the head."
