Ethics [Tuesday, November 4, 2nd period]

Anakin stalked into the room and shut the door firmly behind him.

"Today we talk about wrath," he said. "There's something very human about giving in to our temper," he said. "It's freeing, uncomplicated."

He paused. "At least at that moment. The repercussions are always waiting."

He waved a hand and the holoprojector flipped to life. Frozen in time was a young Jedi with two lightsabers at the neck of an older, clearly defeated enemy. The students might remember the scenario from two weeks ago.

"This was me," he said, pointing at the young man. "And that older man was evil and threatened my family. It didn't make the choice I made--to kill him while he knelt there--any less wrong."

He looked around the classroom making eye contact with every student before continuing. "Wrath is very, very tempting. It urges you to listen to that dark little voice inside of you--to cut loose, live without consequences."

He pointed at the holo again. "There are always consequences. This moment has stayed with me, made me the person I am. It wasn't a positive influence."

Anakin stopped pacing. "What would it take for you to get to that hazy edge? And more importantly, how do you stop yourself from giving in?"

Ella listened sympathetically but with some distance. Wrath wasn't normally her problem.

Penelope wasn't surprised at all, although grasping the concept of wrath was difficult for her. She never really had a problem with it. She could cry and get upset, but that was different.

Yurika wasn't surprised, since he'd said as much to her two weeks ago. Still, she did her best to pay attention, even if she did disagree.

"When faced with an enemy to me or my family?" Worf replied. "I'm not sure that edge is... hazy."

Firekeeper couldn't help but think of Moon Frost, and the incredible jealousy she'd felt towards the other wolf that had eventually come to head in a duel.

And so, with a glance down at the back of Blind Seer's head, she very deliberately avoided the first part of that question. "I stop because killing is not best for pack, this time. If is best, then I not stop."

Tahiri was silent for a very long moment before venturing, "Losing someone I love didn't push me to that edge . . . but if I ever had to go through that again I think, maybe it might."

"I'd have to be under extreme emotional stress to get to that stage," Liz said quietly, "but I couldn't afford to give in to it, especially not wrath," her powers had gotten out of control because of fear the first time, she hated to think what could happen if they got out of control because of wrath.

"I have a hard time imagining myself going up to that edge," Ella admitted. "I have a temper, I'm just not sure it would be so extreme."
