Sex Ed, Wednesday, Period 2, Class #8

At the front of the classroom, a table was set up with an assortment of baby accessories; clothes, bottles, diapers and carriers.

Edward stood at the front of the classroom holding a baby doll. "I hope you enjoyed your family visits. After this week's project, you may appreciate your parents a little more. For the next seven days, you are all parents to your own babies." He held up the infant simulator and demonstrated how to "take care" of the baby, using the diapers and bottle made for the doll. The baby began to cry and Edward rocked it gently until it quieted.

"The bottle and diapers have sensors that register when the baby is being fed or changed," he said. "You will each have a wristband," he held up his arm to show the one he was wearing, "that will let the baby sense when you are near. All you have to do is keep the baby healthy and happy for one week and you'll get an A on this project. Which, by the way, is forty percent of your grade. These dolls are programmed to act just like a real child, so expect to be feeding and changing your little one at all hours. And don't try to mess around with the programming. If the doll is opened up, it will register as 'abused' and you will get an 'F' on the project."

"I've paired you off into couples for this. As 'husband' and 'wife' you will be equally responsible for the child's wellbeing." He paused. "Actually, we have a greater number of girls than boys in this class, so some of you girls will have to work together. Just assume you're sisters helping each other out while your husbands are off in the Army."

Once all the students had their babies, Edward said, "The rest of the period is free time for you to practice your parenting skills. I have baby carriers and other useful items here to help you with caring for your young one. If you need anything else during the week, you can stop by my office."

[It's the inevitable baby project! The dolls have programs that require them to be fed and changed at least every four hours. For more info on how these work, check out the YouTube links below.

OOC, it's up to you how much you want to play out. I'm not going to check on you. I encourage you to play with it and find an IC babysitter if possible, but handwavily saying "someone watched the kid all week" is fine.

Also, the "parents" to each child will get graded on that child's "health", but Edward can't keep track of who takes care of the doll. Forming non-traditional family units is fine as long as the child is taken care of.

Feeding.
Comforting the baby.
How the doll works.

Wait for OCD up!]

"Of course. Cullen expects this to be realistic, doesn't he?" Chuck said, smirking. "I can think of several candidates."

Lord knows Sheppard owed him after stealing his scarf.

"Shame Dorota isn't here," Blair mused. "Anyway, it should be someone good. Ideally they can speak French."

"Ms. Scherbatsky speaks French, I think. But I don't think she's an option," he said. "I fooled around with her little sister last weekend."

"French Canadian doesn't count," Blair told him, scoffing. Really that should've been obvious.

"Then I think we're stuck with people who can speak Spanish," he said, wrinkling up his nose. "Or some alien language that won't get it anywhere in the real world."

Why, no, he wasn't going to stop referring to the child as "it".

"It's only a week," Blair said. "I suppose we can take the risk."

"You're right. We won't have it long enough to notice it's cultural deficiencies. Anyways, the thing is lucky enough that it has us," Chuck said. He looked around at the other pairings in the class. "It could do a lot worse."

"With my brains it could rule the world," Blair said.

"I wouldn't expect any less considering it has our combined genes," he agreed. "Still doesn't mean I'm going to let it sleep in my room this week."

"Isn't there some sort of on-island daycare?" Blair asked.

"The island is full of those hands-on parents, I think," he said with distaste. He didn't even want to know where he'd be if Bart actually took care of him as a kid. "I wonder if the girls at Victrola would take it for a week..."

"We're not leaving our child with your latest string of prostitutes," Blair told him.

Re: Blair Waldorf/Chuck Bass

[identity profile] rocksthescarf.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"They're not prostitutes. They just take their clothes off," Chuck replied. "Besides, it's a Bass. You really think that kind of stuff is going to traumatize it?"

"Well... no," Blair had to admit. "But strippers aren't any better!"

"Burlesque dancers, actually and I'm just saying, they're already on my payroll," he said. "Consider it an option."

Re: Blair Waldorf/Chuck Bass

Blair was curious in spite of herself. "Burlesque?"

Re: Blair Waldorf/Chuck Bass

Chuck perked up at the prospect at getting to talk about Victrola. "Yes, burlesque. A respectable place where people can be transported to another time, feel free to let loose. No judgments, pure escape. What happens at Victrola, stays at Victrola."

"Real retro or Katy Perry wannabe retro?" Blair asked.

"Please, Blair, I'm insulted that you'd even ask," Chuck said. "These girls get up in arms if anyone even thinks about that troll."

Re: Blair Waldorf/Chuck Bass

"I suppose that's allowed," Blair said.

"I'm glad I have your approval," he said, sounding sarcastic even though he meant it.

"Tentative only," Blair said. "I haven't seen the place yet."

"Then you'll have to show up. It's the kind of debauchery that even you can appreciate," Chuck said. "Besides, I'm sure you're dying to know what my idea of a business venture looks like."

[identity profile] gameknowsgame.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Actually half-naked girls fits the bill of what I expect your business ventures to look like," Blair said. "But points to you for finding out how to do that and keep it legal."

"I am capable of using my skills for the forces of good every once in a while," he said. He looked over at the fake baby. "I could even turn it into a family business."
