Home Economics [Class 8] - Tuesday
The set-up was a little different today when the students came into the home ec classroom; instead of the cooking stations that they'd presumably come to expect there were tables with sewing machines, and various implements for the use thereof.
"We're starting a new unit today," Lulu began her lecture, "moving into the textiles part of the class. This means that we're learning new equipment."
Lulu explained the various parts of the sewing machine. She also explained threading the machine. [[And part two.]
"What I'd like to do now," Lulu said, "is have you each try doing some stitches: thread your machines, and then take some scraps of fabric and sew them together. In this way, you can learn how the machines work and get a feel for them.
"Feel free to offer each other help," she said, in such a way that made it clear she was saying, 'Feel free to talk amongst yourselves.' "As well, there aremoddable drinks, and pastries from JGoB. A relaxed day today, I think."
