When the students came in, they would discover that Ghanima had shoved all the desks back against one wall. Instead, there were piles of pillows and blankets tossed around the room, and tables along another wall filled with treats.

Those that had taken her mythology class might recognize the set-up as 'Ghanima is Showing a Movie' Day.

On the board, she had written one section from chapter seven:

36. When you surround an army, leave an outlet free.
Do not press a desperate foe too hard.

"As some of you may have learned this weekend, a cornered rat will fight longer and harder than one with an escape route," Ghanima said clearly. "People will become vicious and do anything and everything if they think there is no hope left. This doesn't just apply to armies. People will also behave this way in regards to their personal lives."

"Which is why today, you all get a movie," she stated. "I had a lovely lesson all written up, but I had a very full office this weekend, and I want you to think about how some of the tactics we've discussed could be used in your interpersonal relationships. If we have time at the end of class, I'd like to discuss what you've just witnessed."

She spread her arms to indicate the three tables full of goodies. "There's ~~moddable~~ treats from JGoB, coffee, juice, and hot cider. Help yourselves."

Tony got a cup of coffee, a plateful of food and sat down next to Liir.

Liir smiled as Tony settled beside him and offered the small bag of cookies his way.

"Thanks," Tony whispered as he took a cookie. "Have a good weekend?"

He nodded and took a cookie himself.

"Yes. You?"

Tony thought about it and grinned. "Yeah, I did," he said. Sure, he could've gone without Henry intimidating Andrew and nearly getting into a fight with a wolf, but it had been good to see him again.

"Your friend was... interesting.

"I made sure not to say anything insulting about his line of work, of course."

His line of - ? Oh, right, romance novels. What, you think he went around telling people he sucks blood?

"'s okay, he knows they're not to everyone's taste," Tony said. "Your friend was, ah, interesting, as well."

"He was nice, though."

He smiled at the mention of Trism, however.

"Trism? Yes, he's... well, he's something. What he can do with horses is a magic of it's own."

Tony's brain went to a dirty place* before realizing that was probably not what Liir had meant. He really hadn't gotten enough sleep this weekend. Like that's something new.

"He seems cool," Tony said. "And very flirty."

*Not a specific dirty place.

...there's a reason Liir's afraid of romance novels and that specific dirty place is it.

"He's very kind."

Blink.

"Flirty?"

Tony shrugged. "It kind of seemed like he was coming on to me." ... and if Liir hadn't realized that before, this was going to be an awkward conversation.

He looked back at the conversation.

"He's very friendly, yes," he agreed, "and very... well," and he pressed his hands together in explanation.

Tony had no idea what Liir's hand gesture was supposed to mean. "Flat?" he guessed.

"Prone to affection, I suppose," he said instead with a hint of amusement curling at the corner of his lips.

"Touches. Hugs. Etc."

Okay, that made more sense than "flat." "Oh, yeah, I can see that," Tony said. "What'd he think of this place?"

"Confusing. A bit mad. Pretty, though, and the water was something he enjoyed a great deal. Oz is entirely landlocked. Entirely."

He smiled as he thought of it.

"I don't think he made the best impression on my father, but... well, I probably should have mentioned he was from the Vinkus before we went. I wasn't thinking much."

He looked over at Tony.

"Henry?"

"Henry was amused. It's not that different from home, really, except for the squirrels and gremlins and such," Tony said. "Being from the Vinkus is a problem?"

He shook his head.

"I should hope not. I'm from the Vinkus if I'm from anywhere," he said with a chuckle.

"It's just that Trism sort of said a rather, er... well, he called my father a Winkie, er, out of surprise, considering, and it didn't go over well. Understandable, but unfortunate."

"Oh, yeah, awkward, huh?" Tony hadn't heard the term "Winkie" before, but he had a good sense of it from the context. Racial/cultural slurs were universal, it seemed.

"Incredibly," he said with a breath out.

Then he took a bite of his cookie.

"You have anything uncomfortable come up?"

Besides the wolf who could tell what Henry was? "Henry met Andrew," Tony said. "Which wasn't too bad, but I think he intimdated Andrew a bit."

He winced.

"That, er, kind of happened with Ino when they got to meet really," he said with a brief chuckle.

"I hope things turned out well for you at least."

"Henry intimidated Ino?" Tony asked, puzzled. She hadn't seemed intimidated.

He couldn't help the quiet laugh.

"No, Ino intimidated Andrew."

That made more sense. Tony couldn't imagine Ino being intimidated by anyone. "Was that before or after she decided she wanted to kill him?"
