History in Living Colour - Friday, Period 3 (Week 6)

Upon entering the Danger Shop, the students were greeted with a door and a whiteboard. The messy writing, all in capital letters, read

'GO THROUGH THE DOOR ALONE OR IN PAIRS. MAKE FRIENDS. DON'T GET KILLED. WHEN THE PROGRAM FREEZES, YOU CAN LEAVE.

THE DOCTOR'

The Doctor wasn't present, but chances were he was around somewhere.

He put up a hand to try to halt her, then said something very clipped that suggested perhaps he wanted her to go away.

She slowed even more, but shook her head as if confused and still kept moving toward him.

With a frown, he hurried back to his house with the bucket. A moment later, he emerged with a rather large sword.

Peyton sat down right where she was.

The man, who was a samurai (which the sword might have given away), wasn't expecting that. He raised an eyebrow at her and lowered his sword. Then he approached slowly until he could look down at her.

"I just need help," she said, raising her hands as if in supplication.

He hadn't taken a swing at her yet anyway, so she figured this was worth a try.

The samurai watched for a long few seconds, then turned the palm of his free hand upwards as an offer to help her up.

The program froze and the door swung back open to where the rest of the students were waiting.

Peyton let out a sigh of relief and stood up to head out the door.
