Newspaper Staff Meeting, 4 pm, Journalism Room

Okay! It was Rikku's very first meeting as editor. Not that she was nervous. Okay, she was, but she remembered to bring pastries and coffee, and so she wasn't doing too badly at this editor gig so far. Uh. Right?

Ghanima was there, looking mildly bemused that she had somehow gotten talked into being the advisor.

"Thank you for doing this," Rikku said, bouncing on her toes and trying not to fidget. "It used to be Steve the art teacher, and I think before that it was some guy named Logan? But they both left. Not at the same time. Did you want some pastries?"

"It's an honor to be asked, Miss Rikku," Ghanima assured her, smiling. "I find the idea that I'm considered an acceptable advisor a bit worrying, but I suppose I shall adapt."

There had not been a 'free press' in the Imperium since before her great-grandfather's time. Ghani was interested to see how this would work.

"Should ... I not have asked?" Rikku chewed her lower lip nervously. "Sorry? Reno thinks you're awesome and all that, so I figured it'd be okay. Um. It's not hard. You just have to ... I think really you're supposed to be here so we don't try to take over. Which we won't."

"If I didn't want to do it, I would not have said yes," Ghanima pointed out helpfully. "Reno hasn't mentioned my fondness for coups? Pity. Perhaps I'll talk you into taking over the school next semester."

"Although really, if I had known making teenage boys do training drills in the pre-dawn hours was the path to 'awesome', I would have started years ago," she mused, casting an eye over the rest of the group. "What do you think? How long until we have this lot whipped into shape?"

"Coups, like the overthrowing-the-government kind?" Rikku asked, perking up. "I kinda did that. I mean, I helped. Back home, not here. Should we aim for a mutiny with the paper? That could be kinda interesting."

She looked at the rest of the group. "I'll be happy if I get articles every week. Just enough that I don't have to write too much filler. I suck at being dictator."
