Cooking Club [Home Ec Classroom, Thursday, 1pm]

The facts were these: Ned...had never run a club before. He was sure that fact was incredibly hard to tell but, yes, he'd never run anything even like a club before.

So, equipped with a cookbook and a pie (might as well bake one for the first club), he found his way to the classroom and gotten it set up as many hours of research had suggested. That was done.

He even wrote COOKING CLUB on the board just in case anyone got confused. You know, like Ned himself.

Once people had found their way into the classroom, Ned nervously stood up and said, "Um, hi. Some of you know me, some of you don't. I'm Ned and this is the cooking club. I did some research..." And he hoped no one laughed at him for that. "...and the first club meeting should generally just be an icebreaker so...let's just do names and favorite food. You can add in cooking experience, if you want to and if you have it. Otherwise, we'll just do something nice and easy to get to know each other."

He cleared his throat. "Anyway, yeah, I'm Ned and my favorite food is pie, obviously. I'm partial to apple pies. I've been cooking since I was about nine, mostly desserts but I'm pretty good with any recipes. So...anyone else?"

"Uhhh, hi," Hurley introduced. "I'm Hurley, and my favorite food is, like, chicken. Ummm, I'm not much of a cook, but I'm learning? I made cookies not too long ago. I kinda... made a mess more than I made cookies, though. Heh."

"I make messes all the time," Ned said, nodding. "That might be a fun part of cooking though. The clean up isn't but the act of making a mess is. Chicken's good. All chicken or do you like it prepared a specific way?"

He looked around for a moment before waving to the assembled.

"Liir," he started. "Er, Thropp. And I don't suppose I have a favorite food. A tendency towards tea, perhaps? And I do like chocolate. And I've been cooking, well, cooking in general since I was seven or so. I've expanded my knowledge of food matters since I came here, though, so I suppose you could say almost a year, really, when it wasn't just what we had available."

"Chocolate's a favorite of mine," he said, starting to relax a little. He knew the subject, he could do this. "I don't know if I've had tea in...wow, since I was a kid. Can you mix chocolate and tea?"

He had to ask. His mind tended to wander.

"Hi, I'm Francine." She wasn't quite as stammer-dorky around this subject as she'd be introducing herself in most others. "My favorite food is... Um. Ice cream? But I really like to bake. And make things in the blender."

"Ice cream's a food for all occasions," Ned agreed. "Any season. It always makes me feel favorite. Do you put ice cream in a blender, ever?"

Chad lifted a hand. "Yasutora Sado," he offered, "or Chad, for most people. My favourite food is tomatoes." Yep. Just tomatoes. "An' I've always been someone who likes cooking, so, yeah." He shrugged. "I'm hoping to learn some new things, maybe."

"Hyuuga Hinata," she said, comforted by the fact that she knew at least two of the people here fairly well. "I g-go by Hinata, and my f-favourite food is g-grilled eel, and I e-enjoy cooking b-but most of my e-experience is w-with field cooking."

"My name is Chris Halliwell and my favorite food is coffee. Assuming coffee counts as a food. If not, then it's probably pizza. I don't have a lot of cooking experience, but my mother is a chef, so I'm hoping I inherited some of her talent."

She had brought some cookies with her -- chocolate and hazelnut. Just don't ask what they're called, unless you want to start blushing.
