Library [10/02]

Sam was very glad to be his usual self as he went to open the library in the morning. He'd even woken up early enough to get breakfast and coffee, thanks to his canine alarm clock. Now, he was looking for enough work to distract himself from thinking and worrying about the family dinner this weekend.

There weren't a ton of books to be put away, so Sam took his time finding each book's proper spot and straightening the other books around them.

Sam wandered over to the books on alchemy and picked an introductory one to read.

Taking a break in his reading, Sam went on the computer and checked his e-mail.

The library was open for lunch, and Sam had soup from cooking class to share with Dean if he showed up.

Dean of course noticed the soup right off the bat when he walked in. "What's that?"

"We made soup in cooking class," Sam said, sounding kind of proud. "It's beef, vegetable broth, onions and potatoes."

"Going all domestic on me, Sammy?" Dean teased, even as he sat down and leaned over to sniff the soup.

"It's not fair for you to bring me food every week and me not to provide something in return," Sam said.

"I don't do it, expecting something back," Dean told him. "Not that I'm about to turn down free food, understand."

"Of course not. I'd have to check you for some kind of sickness," Sam teased.

"And then make me chicken soup."

"I'm pretty good at soup. It's kind of hard to screw up," Sam admitted.

"You do okay in the kitchen when you don't mess yourself up, Sammy," Dean told him.

"Or when the appliances don't try to kill me," Sam said.

Sam went back to reading his book and letting himself be distracted for the time being.

Peter came in with coffee and cider donuts. "Hey."

"Hey," Sam said, shutting his book and smiling up at Peter. "How's it going?"

"Good," Peter said. "I've brought my usual bribes. How's it going with you?"

"Good. You know, you don't have to bring these bribes anymore," Sam said. "I mean, you're enough of a bribe as it is."

"Hey, if you don't get your caffiene I'm not going to be responsible for what happens," Peter said.

"Well, okay, I won't tell you to stop bringing the coffee," Sam said. "But I don't need anything else besides that. Just so you know."

"How about a kiss?" Peter asked.

"I was hoping that would be part of the bribe of getting you here," Sam replied.

"I don't need a bribe to come and see you," Peter told him. "But if you insist on kissing me, I'm not gonna say no."

"Since you're here, I do insist," Sam said, leaning over the counter to try to get to Peter to give him a kiss.

Peter grinned and kissed Sam back, taking his time about it since hey, Sam lips. Always good.

Sam wasn't in a rush either, and kissed Peter back gently, leaning further over the counter.

Peter kissed Sam back, deepening it since he enjoyed that as well.

Sam kept kissing Peter until he had to stop for breath, pulling back just enough to breath and smile. "That's definitely my favorite kind of bribery."

"Only from me," Peter told him. "Anybody else tries and I'm gonna deck 'em."

"If anyone else tries, I'll probably deck them," Sam replied.

"Well okay but I get next," Peter told him.

"Of course," Sam said, laughing. "We can do it together."

Sam took a long but quick sweep through the library to make sure everything was cleaned up before he closed up.

After classes, Lucas stopped by to pick up a book for Lit class. "Hey Sam," he greeted the other boy, sort of wishing he'd decided to wait for Friday to do his homework.

"Hey," Sam said, giving Lucas a small smile. "Can I help you?"

"Uh, yeah, I guess," Lucas replied. "You got any copies of Randolph Park left? Miss Bennet assigned it for next week."

"I imagine we do, if everyone's going to have to read it," he said, going over to check the catalog's computer.

"Oh good, you might need a whole lot of copies for that class," he added, leaning on the counter to watch Sam work.

Sam looked worried for a moment, before the listing in the computer came up and showed a good dozen and a half copies. "I think there's enough," he said. "Is this something you're looking forward to reading, or no?"

"It doesn't look so bad," Lucas said. "Maybe a little old fashioned for my tastes, but I'm more an American lit fan over stodgy Brit-Lit." ~~Lucas' mun would just sit in the corner and cry at the thought.~~

"At least it's in recognizable English, and not some archaic, hard to read old form," Sam pointed out.

Potentially jossing new canon tonight! *fears!*
