Survival Skills [Wednesday, Period Four]

As the students entered the Danger Shop, Bond by no means looked cheerful, but definitely somewhat less cranky than he had last week.

"Today, we're looking at a skill that's more likely to save someone else's life rather than your own," he began once everyone had arrived. "While there are several which would fall under that description, the one in particular I'm referring to is first aid. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, of which I hope there aren't any, it refers of No matter what kind of life you lead, of all the subjects I am covering in this class, this is one of the ones you are most likely to use, and thus I strongly recommend that you all take an accredited first aid course at some point in your lives."

Bond continued for a while, talking about a variety of situations first aid might be needed in, and demonstrating several techniques. "Now, I would like you all to take a turn practising CPR on Anne here," he said, gesturing to a dummy. "As well as pairing up and practising treating each other for cuts, burns, sprains, and the like, you'll find plenty of bandages and other equipment at your workstations."

Hurley paid attention, very glad the class didn't involve, well, any blood.

Triela only half-listened until he got to the part about practicing treating each other. That was going to be interesting.

Ender paid careful, almost meticulous attention to the lecture. This was useful knowledge, and he knew it.

Gavin knew the basics of first aid but he still paid attention just in case things differed from planet to planet.

Amber listened to the lecture. Because it was important, yo.

Her notes this week were quite detailed, though she was only half listening. Most of it, after all, she'd learned before.

Helen listened carefully committing what he said to memory.

Ronan paid attention to the lecture. Not because he needed the information -- working in the clinic had filled out his knowledge of non-magical first-aid -- but because he was comparing how Professor Bond taught it versus what he'd learned during his shifts.

Liir took notes, though some of the procedures certainly seemed similar to Sister Doctor's lessons.

Turtle paid close attention; she might actually have a chance to help with something like this one day, especially since she knew herself to be more squeamish on the more...active ways of handling situations.

Andros knew the basics of this but he still took notes and paid attention.

Gavin didn't know this particular thing so he fumbled around with the dummy for awhile, glad it was a dummy so she didn't feel the bumps and thumps she was taking because he was a novice.

For someone who had never done anything quite like this before, Helen was surprisingly good at it.

Ronan's experience with the clinic was definitely useful here, although it was a little awkward as he tried to put the theory he'd learned into practice. Still, shortly enough he was doing CPR like an expert.

Liir felt a little odd approaching the dummy. That said, he went in and did as he'd been instructed, even if he was a bit weirded out.

Although she knew she'd barely have time to review her notes if this were a real crisis, Turtle still looked them over before setting to try to perform the procedure as perfectly as possible.
