"Good morning," Edward said. "I hope everyone got through this weekend safely. Today we are discussing puberty." He talked for a few minutes about the biological changes that cause puberty and the results for both boys and girls.

"Since puberty can be very different for boys and girls, we are going to split up for the remainder of the class period. I had hoped my sister Alice would be here today to talk to the girls, but she was unable to make it. Fortunately, Miss Bennet has graciously agreed to talk to you, ladies. Since you girls outnumber us, you remain here and she'll be with you in just a moment. I hope you will take this chance to ask her any questions you would not feel comfortable discussing with me.

"Boys, we'll go to the room next door and have our discussion. All of you - if there are any questions you don't feel comfortable bringing up today, please remember that the question box is available to you as well."

Edward gestured for the boys to follow him from the room.

Boys are leaving, girls are staying, talk happens.

Puberty? Amber seriously thought her body was as good as it was going to get. She wondered what it would be like if she had bigger boobs, like Inara.

Okay, she chuckled to herself, she already knew that, and knew it was great.

Kaylee...was pretty sure she was done growing. At least, all...that stuff-wise.

Good god, if there was more to come, she was actually kinda scared.

Oh, Gwen knew all about puberty. Since this was her second time through and all.

Wow, Joan felt like she was in middle school again, having separate puberty talks.

Chuck wanted to facepalm when he learned what today was going to be about. This class was getting more ridiculous every week.

Seriously, they were talking about puberty again, like back in sixth grade? At least it seemed less likely to completely piss Claire off than last week's class, she thought as she slumped down in her seat.

Angela leaned over a little, a smirk well in place, as usual for this class. It really was ridiculous.

"Is the male anatomy supposed to be this big mystery to us?" she said. "Like separating us now is going to help with that."

Claire smirked back. "I know," she said. "Like we'll be traumatized and faint if he mentions wet dreams."

Angela gasped and put her hand to her heart in mock horror.

"Oh, my delicate female sensibilites."

Claire pretended to go for her purse. "Maybe I have smelling salts."

She added, "I dunno, might be nice to not have immature guys acting all grossed out about periods, at least."

"There is that," Angela agreed. "Boys can be dumb like that sometimes."

Meg yawned, opened her laptop and started browsing the various news websites.

Kevin couldn't think about puberty without thinking of Derrick, his first love. That had been an awkward and gangly process of discovery.

Maybe he would share that with the rest of the boys.

Blair was glad that Ms. Bennett was taking care of this portion of the class. She at least seemed to know what she was talking about.

Tosh wasn't going to take notes this time. She knew all about this already.

Marco had already slept through this class before - possibly more than once - and looked ready to do so again. Or possibly bolt from the room.

Puberty? Crazy teacher man did know they were in high school, right?

Molly tried very, very hard not to roll her eyes at the lecture.

Ah, yes. Puberty. The time of Cal's life when he started looking less like Cleopatra and more like his dead grandfather, and had to fake a period just to avoid scary doctor visits.

Yet another riveting chapter in his life, although, he had to admit, the division of the class intrigued him probably more than he should have. He was a part of the girls-only puberty lesson back in junior high, so now a taste of the other side...
