Home Economics, Tuesday, Period 3 [Class 1]

Lulu stepped up to the front of the class, smiling warmly at the gathered students. "Good morning, everyone," she said, leaning back against her desk. "I'm glad to see you all here, and I hope that you're all ready for the new semester. I'll have a final syllabus for you next class; today, I'd like to focus on making sure that we all know each other. So, as I'm sure you're doing in all of your other classes," and here she smirked, just slightly, a quick upturn at the corner of her mouth, "we'll be doing introductions."

"As some of you know," Lulu continued, "my name is Lulu; you may call me either that, or Professor. I come from a small island named Besaid, on the world of Spira, where I was a Guardian to my friend, a summoner named Yuna. If you'd like, at some point in the future, I can talk about that a little more. Now, for you," she continued, "the same thing -- your name, your class, where you're from, and an interesting fact about yourself." She pointed at one student at random. "We'll start with you."

[Feel free to ping off each other, etc. -- Lulu will overlook any random chatting during class today. :D ]

"My name is Hoshi Sato and I'm from the 22nd century," she started out. "I'm not entirely sure if I'm from the future of this world, though. I like to cook, but I'm not entirely up to speed with the fashions of this time period, so this seemed like a good class to take."

Alex waved at Hoshi. Once a big sibling, always a big sibling.

Hoshi waved back. "How was the rest of your summer after you went home?" she asked.

"My name's Summer Roberts, from Newport Beach, California 2005. I'm a senior," Summer told the class. "Something interesting? I vanquished a spider demon just by stomping on it."

"My name is Alex Russo and I'm from New York, 2008," Alex explained. "I'm a sophomore and as for an interesting fact? I'm a wizard in training."

Cimorene stood up and straightened her skirt. "I'm Princess Cimorene of Linderwall, from Linderwall, near the Enchanted Forest, but more recently from the Dragon's Caves and was the Chief Cook and Librarian to the King of Dragons. And I'm a Senior."

Francine admittedly spent a lot of time staring at the teacher. And then looking down. And then looking back at the teacher. So when her turn came, she was a little flustered. "Oh, uh, um, hi. I'm Francine. Peters. I'm a Junior, from Houston and Tennessee before that, and... I suddenly feel vaguely insecure for some reason?"

"Hi, I'm Amber Atkins and I'm a senior. I'm from Mount Rose Minnesota and an interesting fact?" She paused, bit her lip. "I don't think there is anything interesting about me."

"You have very pretty eyes," Viki offered. "Perhaps that could be it?"

Amber was surprised to hear that and she smiled at Viki. "Thank you, Viki. I never would have thought to say that about myself."

That got a bit of a shrug. "It's the introduction thing, I believe," Viki said, smiling. "Who goes around thinking things are interesting about themselves?"

She supposed it was possible but that seemed rather boring.

"I have no idea; I certainly don't, but then I'm just normal."

She grinned. "But we are all normal to ourselves, you understand."

Amber snorted, grinned. "Yah, I guess we are."

Okay, listening to everyone else she was really beginning to wonder about this place. "My name's Buffy Summers, I'm a senior from Sunnydale, and I burn Pop Tarts so this should be interesting."

Andrew tried not to stare. Really.

Buffy caught the staring, and frowned a little, wondering if this guy knew one of the other Buffys, too. That was it, she was so the final Buffy.

Hoshi looked confused. "What's a pop tart?" she asked.

"Processed fruity goodness in a crust," Buffy answered. "You stick it in a toaster and voila. Unless you suck and do it wrong."

"Is this toaster anything like a food replicator?" asked Hoshi. "I've seen some of those go bad and turn out really awful stuff."

Buffy looked at her blankly. "Food replicator?"

"It's something from my time period," Hoshi explained. "Basically, it takes recycled protein matter and synthesizes food products from a blueprint stored in its memory banks. I have one, but it's really primitive. No matter what I ask for, it gives me chocolate milk."

"Harry Dresden, senior, from all over the country most recently Missouri, and I'm a wizard."

"I"m Chris Halliwell, a senior from San Francisco, California, and an alternate universe version of my mother graduated from here a few years ago and is now studying to be a chef."

"My name is Andrew Wells. I'm a senior, originally from Sunnydale, California." He grinned in Buffy's direction. "And, lets see, an interesting fact about myself is that I once repelled down the Chrysler building in New York."

"I am Viki, a senior so they tell me, though I don't think I look it at all, and I don't particularly know where or when I came from..." she considered her options, "...how should I know what is interesting about myself? What might be interesting to me could be insufferably dull to another?"

"I'm Sam, I'm a junior, uh, I'm from here, roughly, well, out west, but this world and this country, and from now, and uh, my car turned out to be a giant alien robot? He's also a student here. I don't think he's in this class, though."

She's here for all your Lulu needs!

Hoshi was there for the poking, if necessary.

Standard availability for me -- around for a little bit before I head to work, then off to work until late this evening.
