"Alternate," she said pointedly. "Very alternate. I don't even think Zekk's talking to me and Jag doesn't like me like that." Wrong on both counts, actually.

John snickered, taking the hit. "Maybe you're just taking your time, waiting for some other guy to come along who's more fun than those two." He could offer helpful suggestions that would earn her points, yes.
