He reached for the hem of his shirt, told himself that this was not a bad thing and then just wriggled out of it.

"So?"

"Not bad," she decided. Not the best she'd seen today, by far, but not bad.

"Yeah." He draped his shirt over a shoulder and crossed his arms. "Too skinny."

"I met a girl who works in a funeral home," he said, "and another girl who was talking about sunflowers and not losing my ears."

"I think me not losing my ears," he said and patted one ear just to make sure. "It was something with the sunflowers."

"I hope so," he said, "because I spent some of my childhood living near a sunflower field and I would like to keep my ears."

"Look at it this way," Ino suggested. "As you said, you lived near a field for years and still have your ears. That's a good sign, really."

"Hopefully it's not a delayed reaction," he said and put his hands over his ears. "My head would look so weird without ears."

"I had long hair when I was a kid," he laughed. "It made my head look egg shaped."

"Maybe one or two," he said. "I don't have many pictures from back then anymore."
