Escape Artistry: Week 7, Period 3 (Thurs. 08/21)

When students entered the Danger Shop for the final time this workshop session, they would find the large area blank other than a table filled with all the different tools they'd encountered, including paintball guns, wooden bokutō, screw drivers, hammers, awls, and crowbars.

"Today you're escaping from the final any way you can. There's the door," he pointed his thumb at a control panel that had appeared on the wall next to where the door had previously been. "It opens with a code. Your job's to try to get me to tell you the code or figure out another way to get through the door. Who wants to go first?"

A few things about the scenario:
1. If you're a genius, sure you can break the code.
2. If you're a superman, sure you can break the door with your foot.
3. If you challenge Ronon to some task, make sure you tell him the rules of your challenge.
4. Be creative! If you come up with something totally other, Ronon'll roll with it.
5. Ronon's used to being on the other side of this sort of thing, so he'll give you pointers if you ask.

Jamie walked over to the door and crouched down to put his finger near the crack at the bottom. He rapped his knuckles once against the door and a dupe appeared on the other side who immediately started working on the hinges.

Sokka sidled up to Ronan. "I don't know if I've mentioned this," he whispered, "but I'm McKay's roommate. In addition to the freedom of not having to set a good example, like a teacher does, I have all sorts of access to him. And his stuff."

Picking up a hammer with a rubber grip, Gwen set to work on the control panel. Violently.

Warren stared at the door, considering.

"If the final task is to escape from the final," he mused, "which involves opening the door and leaving," he continued, "shouldn't I just be sitting here, not doing the final at all?"

It would certainly mean he'd escaped having to do it. Though... probably not well.

Still feeling a bit huffy after Sokka's success, Rodney stomped his way to the door when it was his turn.

He barely glanced at the control panel before deciding not to bother with the code and instead just pried off the casing with a screwdriver. It was the work of only a moment to select the right wires to disconnect and reattach to each other in order to cause a short that instantly opened the door.

Rodney grinned triumphantly at his quick success and thought himself quite vindicated.

Rikku posed in front of Ronon. "Ever gone one-on-one with a thief?" she asked.

She could probably blow up the door, but she'd done that the first day of class. Felt repetitive to do it again.

Peter'd already used his power of unlocking things in class, so he figured he'd mix it up a bit. He tried to use his TK to pull the door open having no idea how much canon foreshadowing came with that move.

Dick wasn't necessarily a genius, but he knew some things about codebreaking.

Dick studied the control panel for a few minutes and thought through the problem. Finally, Dick input the code. The door didn't open. Dick input a different code. The door didn't open. Dick glanced at the panel again before inputting another code.

"There we go," Dick said as the door opened. The annoying part was that he knew Bruce would've gotten it on the first try.

Inara sighed and wondered if someone would be willing to bring her tea later, when she was still sitting in this room. Electronics weren't her specialty, nor were mechanics, so this didn't bode well.

For lack of any other ideas, she started punching in a series of numbers at random. She wasn't quite desperate enough to try meditation as a method of rearranging the chi of the wall surrounding the lock, but she might get there eventually.

"Does this kind of thing happen often where you're from?" Maybe talking would work, though she kind of doubted it with Ronon.

Helen considered her door, then considered her arm and made it into something she could use to pry the panel off with. Then she shorted out the wires to open the door.
