The students should have gotten a ~~handwaved~~ notice to dress nicely and meet at the Causeway, where they were met by a large portal and a disgruntled looking Ghanima.

If you thought you heard her muttering nasty things in a variety of languages regarding "stupid brothers," "stupid Spacing Guild," "damned stubborn Naibs with more pride than sense," "crazy detectives," or "never taking Faith Lehane anywhere ever again," well, you might not be wrong.

"Right." Reaching inside her coat, Ghanima retrieved a deck of the Dune Tarot and fanned the cards at them. "Step right up, and ask me what today holds for you. Through there -" she gestured at the portal with the cards, " - is Monaco. Home to some of the most wonderful casinos this Earth holds. Your mission is to take the future I forsee, and try to beat it. If I tell you that you are destined to win big, sit outside and give away money. If I say you fail, go cheat the casino by whatever means you choose. The one rule is not to get caught, because I am not paying for bail. I want to see how many of you manage to flaunt destiny."

"After all," she grinned humorlessly, flipping up the Hanged Man with ease. "Navigating the future is a family talent. Who wants to try and beat the oracular Atreides?"

"I'm glad to contribute to your continuing education, then," Ghanima answered, clearly amused. "How did you do, Reno?"

"Made a coupl'a bucks," Reno mused, patting his pocket.

The word 'made' was really a relative term. And also, it spared him the breath needed to confess that he'd cheated for it. Subtly. "Good class, overall. Liked the whole term."

He flashed a grin. "Educational, like always."

Cheating was the entire idea, really, not that Ghanima would complain if he'd found a way to do it honestly.

"Good," she said simply, reaching into her coat again to flick one of the cards at him. "Catch."

Reno caught the card and looked at it for a moment, confused, before looking up at Ghanima again.

"What's this for?"

"It's your Star," she answered, as though it was the most natural thing in the world. "I certainly don't need them to play with the future, if I were so inclined, I could simply close my eyes and look. I think it belongs more with you than with me."

"Think of it as a reminder." Ghanima smirked slightly as she shuffled the rest of the pack back into her coat. "If you intend to learn how to move in the Weirding Way, I expect to see you at training at least three times a week."

Reno looked at the card again. His star. And then he tucked it into an inner pocket in his jacket.

... Well. If she really wanted to short her deck a card, he wasn't going to argue. She was the teacher, after all. He was just the TA.

Well, not so much the TA, now that this course was over.

"Three times a week? I can do that, yo. When's good for you?"

"I'm on the beach every morning at five," Ghanima replied, "but if that's too early for you, I don't mind re-arranging a bit. I don't yet know when my class meets next term, but I'm sure it won't be an issue."

"I've been up earlier," Reno said, waving a hand dismissively. "Five on the beach, I'll make a point of it."

And then, after a pause.

"Thanks for the-" He'd already thanked her for offering to attempt to teach him the Weirding Way. Hm. Best not to get repetitive. "Card."
