Summer Fitness [Period 2, Friday]

The class had ~~handwavily~~ been told to meet at the beach, where a rather nice head of surf was crashing against the sand. Bond was waiting on the shore with a pile of wetsuits and a number of boards.

After everyone had finished changing into their suits, Bond began. "In light of our current location, instead of my originally planned class for today, you will all be learning to surf instead."

This lead to a short lecture on the history of surfing, and the science behind it, as well as a demonstration of proper surfing technique, before Bond led his students into the water.

Listen, talk, mingle, wonder if the wetsuits really had to be that awkward to get into.

Kevin was all smiles today. At least, until he glanced over at Toby. It was just strange being on a beach and not being on top of him.

God, this was freaking awesome! Johnny knew how to surf and was practically jumping, waiting to get on a board.

Toby couldn't stop looking over at Kevin. God, it sucked being on the beach and not being naked.

The wetsuit was tight. Though it showed off his package rather nicely.

...It looked like that one guy whose name Cal wasn't even sure he could remember didn't have to teach him to surf after all.

But, really, Cal was just feeling extremely grateful for how much a wetsuit covered.

Bond is watching to make sure you don't get into too much trouble.

Kevin had been doing this most of his life.

Kevin had taught Toby how this was done and it made him sort of sad that he was good.

Teyla had listened carefully, and was watching the others, but still had some trouble staying on her board.

Sam wasn't very good at this, but he was steadily improving as the class progressed.

Harry hadn't ever had an opportunity to surf. He also had never really had the desire to surf. It was really too bad for Harry that he had not continued lacking motive and opportunity.

As it was, he stayed upright for approximately 12 seconds before wiping out spectacularly. His second attempt lasted about 3 seconds more. His third attempt was again slightly longer, but this resulted in an even more spectacular wipeout. Maybe he should stick to wiping out. He seemed to have a natural talent for that part.

If surfing's really not for you.

Temari sat very carefully away from the waves.

Just because they were nice to look at, didn't mean she wanted to go in. Couldn't they do more of the running?

That's what he's there for.

Rikku bounced up to Bond at the end of class, a small red chocobo cradled in her hands. "Um, hi!" she said. "Reno ... um."

She held out the chocobo slightly. "Um. Reno."

Reno wark!ed at Bond.

Bond raised an eyebrow. "Is a small red bird?"

"Yeah," Rikku said, shaking her head. "We were trying to have a date. We kinda suck at dates."

Reno bounced happily. Yay, they were outside! He liked it outside.

Chocobo!Reno liked darn near everything.

"If that happens regularly on them, I can see where it might be a problem," Bond replied, still eyeing the bouncing Reno.

"Oh, this is new," Rikku sighed. "Last time it was a ferret in the food and his boss calling, and the time before that was the volcano? I'm starting to think it's a curse."

Reno made happy burbling noises.

"Well, I can't say I've ever been a fan of dating," Bond remarked. "Even without such happenings."

"It's really starting to lose its appeal," she agreed. "And, uh. Sorry Reno missed class? Probably for the best, he kinda ... doesn't swim. At all."

Reno was happy to blow a raspberry of agreement on that one.

"I'd noticed," Bond said. "We'll call it an excused absence, shall we?"

"If we could?" Rikku smiled. "I'd appreciate it. Um. And I'm sure Reno would, too. Thank you."

Bond returned the smile. "You're welcome."

Just be glad he didn't decide to make you do this. Or worse, watch the film.
