Summer Fitness [Period 2, Friday]

The class had been handwavily informed to meet at the pool this class, where they would have found Bond doing laps as he waited for the class to arrive.

"Good morning class," he started, emerging from the water to address them. "I trust you all remembered to bring your bathers like my email said? Good, now as you've probably all guessed, today's class will involve swimming, so first things first, I would like everyone who feels confident in their swimming abilities to go to my left and those who don't to go to my right."

After the groups had sorted themselves, Bond started by addressing the group on his right. "You, I would like to go get changed, and then to come back here to observe your classmates while they finish the first exercise," he said before turning to face the others. "You, I would like to make your way to the deep end of the pool, get in, and swim to the shallow end." He paused to make sure the part where they would be fully clothed while doing this had sunk in. "Then you can go get changed into your bathers. Those of you with powers are not to use them, and I will be watching in case any of you get into trouble.

"After you've finished that, we can get properly started."

After changing out of his wet clothes into his trunks, Johnny stuck to the deep end and worked on his backstroke and breaststroke, while occassionally admiring the pretty.

This was Cal, uncomfortable in a pair of swim trunks and a T-shirt and trying not to show it, hanging out in the shallow end where the water barely went deeper than his waist, going through ways to sound convincing if he had to say that the reason he wasn't trying to the strokes was because he couldn't swim.

"...I can't really swim, sir," Cal responded, which was a lie.

"This is about as far as I go into the water without feeling extremely uncomfortable," he added, which wasn't a lie at all.

Cal drew in a deep, tentative breath, eying the water as if it was going to bite him.

"I...could," he said, with the sort of reluctance that suggested that if Bond had any amount of sympathy in his well-toned body, then he would just give Cal a nice shiny pass for the day.

Ronan started with the front crawl, working out and loosening up the muscles that had been a bit strained with the first activity, and then moved easily into the backstroke and the breaststroke.

The butterfly was new, and he found himself tiring pretty quickly while attempting it, so he went back down to the breaststroke.

Toby was fond of the backstroke, and so he lazily worked his way across the pool once he'd changed into his swimsuit.

It was at this point that Cassandra realized she was in the pool wearing a white shirt. She opted not to change since that would involve getting out of the water. This, of course, probably made her look a bit awkward.

Teyla worked her way through the strokes, and challenged herself by staying in the deep end where she could not stand up.

Reno? Was all about the dog paddle in the shallow end, here.

And maybe if he'd learned how to float, he'd be doing better.

Harry's dog paddle was fine. It was hard to have a bad dog paddle technique.
Front crawl was much the same.
Backstroke led to a hand smashed into the wall and a few choice phrases muttered quietly under his breath.
Breaststroke led to Harry looking rather like a very tall and ridiculous frog.
And butterfly...it was best not to speak of these things.
