The Library [11.07]

It was with a deep sigh of relief that Karal arrived at the libray and found no one else there. There didn't seem to be any sign of a librarian, either, so...

"Shall we?" he asked Altra. The Firecat nodded and led the way inside, Karal following closely at his heels.

"For you to throw darts at?" Gavin asked. "Always fun to antagonize John."

"Oh no." Karal shook his head. "He's in my explosives class. I'm definitely not antagonising him!"

"Aww, bummer," Gavin said and thought about it again. "Aravis?"

"Gavin!" he squeaked.

"What?" Okay, he'd done that on purpose. "She's a teddy bear!"

"Aravis is many, many things, but she is not a teddy bear," he said shaking his head. "And I promise never to tell her you said she was."

"Well, if you don't, I'm sure the little squirrels will," Gavin said, making a face. "We could throw 'em at the zombies?"

"All right," he said, laughing quietly. "If we must throw them at anyone, we'll throw them at the zombies."

"At least they won't really care?" Gavin tried. "And, I mean, if we get too outta line, I'm sure Altra will set us both straight or just Jump us somewhere or something."

:Into the pond,: Altra said as he groomed his tail.

"Aww, Altra, your kindness is truly moving," Gavin said, laughing as he did.

Karal covered a smile and reached out to scratch Altra behind the ears, making the Firecat sigh and start purring. :Or back to the dorms. I'd probably get wet if I tried to Jump you both into the pond.:

"You don't like the water?" Gavin asked, having never had a cat before.

:To drink, not to touch,: Altra said, whiskers shivering with disgust.

"It is a cat thing," Karal explained. "None of them like water at all."

"Huh." Gavin snickered. "I wouldn't have guessed that."

Altra pointedly turned his head and started grooming his shoulder, ignoring both of them. "And now all I can see is cat hair," Karal pointed out. "Will I meet you at Caritas?"

"I'll see you there," Gavin said. "Hey, Altra. Be careful where you lick."

Karal groaned and put his head on the desk. "I might spend the day practising my walking around blind technique," he said. "See you tonight, Gavin."

"Bye Karal," Gavin said, grinning. "See you, Altra."

He waved and headed out.
