"I'm not entirely sure," he replied, a little surprised by the question. "My protoform was likely factory-made. Who made you?"

And now it was her turn to be taken aback.

"My parents?" she suggested.

It was sort of true, if you squinted.

"You're ... not a droid?" she asked.

"I am Cybertronian," he said. "We are what you might call autonomous mechanical organisms."

"Coooooooooooool," Rikku said, nodding. "Uh. Sorry if that was rude. I thought you were -- a droid-thing? I build droid-things, back home. Um. Hi! Pleasedtameetcha. I'm Rikku, what's your name?"

"Pleased to meet you-- I'm Bumblebee," he said. "No apology necessary. Even we build ships and other mechanical things to aid us."

"Oooooh, neat," she said, nodding. "How did you ... do that ... singing thing? That was awesome."

She really wanted her own soundtrack. That'd be freaking cool, to just burst into song and have music back-up.

... Maybe it'd be better for someone who sang better than she did?

"I can project earth music taken from their radio and television signals through my vocalizer," he explained, rather pleased, and then demonstrated once more. "Say it ain't so, I will not go, turn the lights off, carry me home~"

Rikku had to bounce her way through the "na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na"s before responding.

"You'd be, like, the best DJ ever," she decided.

"Thank you," he said, optics narrowing happily. "Where is your home, Rikku?"

"Spira," she said, bouncing on her toes. "It's not ... from here? I think it's from a different dimension. You've probably never heard of it. Most people haven't. That's okay, it kinda sucks."

Well. It did.

"I haven't," he confirmed. "Is that why you are here; because Spira sucks?"

"Kinda?" Rikku said, considering it. "More like ... okay, back home, we weren't supposed to build things like droids. Some of us did anyway, but other people hated it? So, uh, now that we're allowed, no one knows how. That's why I'm here."

"Why would they hate droids?" Bumblebee looked very perplexed at that.

Rikku frowned. "It was a religious thing," she said. "Someone said, 'hey, I decided droids are evil' and everyone went 'Oh, okay, let's not have them any more.' People really suck at thinking some times."

"That's very sad," he said, his antennae echoing the sentiment by flattening to his helm. "I'm glad that you were able to get away from that."

"Me, too," Rikku said, nodding. "Oh! And people don't think that any more. I mean, they know droids are okay, now, so I'm gonna learn how to make them and we'll have plenty."

Hopefully. Spira was kinda in chaos at the moment, but really, it was more cheerful put like that.
