He'd watched Chad get beaten up for that coin, there was no way he was going to not notice.

"Yeah, it can." A lot had happened in just a month after all, but if Chad had given it away than that was his business. That really had to be an important person.

"As long as I don't need to go beat someone up," he added with a slight grin. Maybe it wasn't his Chad exactly, but a deal was a deal.

That managed to get a bit of a grin out of Chad. "Not on my account, anyway," he said, knowing full well that it would be pretty shocking if Ichigo was able to go without a fight...or at least an argument...with anyone for too long.

Ichigo wouldn't really have understood why Chad would think that. Possibly because he hadn't run ito Katchoo yet, but then he wouldn't think so after that either.

"Good, let's keep it that way. So... Anything else I should know?" He knew it was a dangerous question.

Chad grunted a little at that. "How much time you got?" he asked in a wry sort of rumble, and then shook his head, trying to think of what the really, really important stuff might be.

"Gremlins? Bad. Uh, when weird and tiny things start showing up, don't freak out." He imagined Ichigo probably would anyway. "It's actually really normal around here."

That earned him a stare. A long stare. "I was in Virginia and now I'm in Antarctica. How's that normal?"

Chad was okay with that stare. Chad actually kind of missed that stare.

"We were in Madagascar last week," he informed Ichigo. Oh so helpfully.

Chad was lucky then as Ichigo didn't seem to be stopping any time soon. "Which makes this more normal how?"

Chad shrugged again. "The moving's actually not normal," he admitted. "That just started this summer. But it's starting to be normal."

"Will it keep moving?" Ichigo asked. "Madagascar sounds warmer."

"It was warmer," Chad agreed with a nod. "An' I'm sure it will. It's gotta go back to Virginia eventually, right?"

Ichigo's eyebrow went up an inch. "Are you asking me? As far as I'm concerned it shouldn't be moving at all!"

Well, Ichigo always did have more logic than Chad. He shrugged. "I guess. I hope it moves. I hate this cold."

He glanced toward the cat. "Prince Oscar Pedro hates it even more."

"That's cause he's naked," Ichigo pointed out as he considered taking a picture of the cat and sending it to Yoruichi. What? He thought it was pretty funny. "Why are you taking him outside anyway?"

"He likes the picnics," Chad explained. "He did have a sweater, but it disappeared."

Yes. Disappeared. Chad still had no idea what happened to that sweater. He shrugged.

"But it's warmer out today; I don't think I have to worry about him getting frostbite today."

[identity profile] first-guardian.livejournal.com 2008-07-06 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
No, a naked cat with frostbite was probably even uglier. He felt badly for thinking it and reached out, petting Oscar Pedro in an almost apology.

"I'm sure he's glad," Ichigo assured Chad, having the feeling that maybe Chad was the one who liked having the cat out for picnics and not the other way around. "Look, I think I might go grab some more food. I'll catch you later?"

"Uh, yeah," Chad nodded as Prince Oscar Pedro relished in a few last skritchings. "I'm in room 312, Ichigo, if you need anything." He gave a slight grunt with his nod at the end of the statement, so Ichigo knew that he meant it. It had to be really strange for him, but he was still an awful lot like the Ichigo he knew, and he hoped he was still an awful lot like the Chad he knew, and it was good to see him here.

The grunts at least were familiar and he wasn't going to think about how grunts could actually be familiar.

"Cool. I'm in 204. So that's just a floor down." He gave the cat a final pet before stuffing his hands in his pockets. "I'll see you."
