Her heart had practically stopped in that moment when he had just stared and she still watched him a bit anxiously. "Really? You don't think it's a... a deformity?"

"Sweetheart, I'd give a lot to have a 'deformity' that gave me a natural weapon against demons," Dean said. "Beyond my natural charm and good looks."

"Well, you do have a great deal of that," Helen said with a relieved smile. "I can actually turn it into anything I want."

"Really? That's really cool." He raised an eyebrow. "Got any favorites?"

She laughed and her arm began to turn gray from the tips of the fingers and spreading up to her shoulder. And then there was an elephant trunk tapping on his shoulder and moving to attempt to wind around the back of his neck.

Dean chuckled and let her pull him a little closer. "Okay that wasn't what I was expecting."

"And just what were you expecting, Dean Winchester?" she teased. "I would not like to disappoint someone with such - how did you phrase it? Ah yes, natural charm and good looks."

"Believe me, you're far from disappointing," Dean told her.

She blushed, surprising herself entirely, and ducked her head for a moment to regain her composure.

"Come now, anything animate or inanimate. What would you like to see? Please don't tell me you're too polite to say. I would be so disappointed." Yes, that was better, far more like herself.

Dean considered for a moment. "Flamethrower?" he finally ventured tentatively.

She blinked at him. "What is that?" She had an image of a sling sort of thing with which one could throw... candles or... balls of paper...

"It's a...." Dean's hands moved up as he tried to describe it. "device. That shoots a flammable liquid and ignites it at the same time." He shook his head. "Don't worry about it. Probably a bad idea to ask for a weapon like that anyway."

Helen shook her head ruefully, "That I'm afraid is beyond what I could do. Everything I create must be from my flesh, so to ignite it and shoot it from me would not be wise."

"Yeah, should've thought of that," Dean said. "Sorry. The trunk though is awesome!"

She grinned at him. "You've totally ruined my grouchy mood, you know."

"Sorry," Dean said again, then seemed to reconsider. "Actually, I'm not. You're pretty regardless, but much prettier when you smile."

His words caught her off guard and she found herself blushing slightly again. She didn't get many compliments from the priests in the temple. "Now that's not something I hear a lot. Usually people are too focused on the bluntness. Or rudeness."

Dean shrugged. "I like a woman who speaks her mind," he said.

"Then we shall get along well," Helen said. "For you seem to be someone who will stand up for himself also.

"I'm not usually accused of being shy or retiring, no," Dean agreed.

"Good. Makes things much easier," Helen said, nodding her head. "I'm far happier around people who give as good as they get."

"Me too," Dean agreed. "In all sorts of ways."

She looked at him assessingly, then smiled. "Oh, I just bet you are. I think I like that about you, too."
