Teyla was always amazed by how many people gathered at these picnics. She was standing quietly on her own, watching everyone mill around, and if her glance wandered over towards those without shirts a little more often than necessary, it couldn't be helped.

Romeo still had his shirt on, though given they shared a room he wouldn't have been especially fresh meat for Teyla to ogle in any case.

"We're ships in the night lately, aren't we?" he said amiably enough. "How is your summer?"

"It has been going well. The changes in environment have been especially interesting to adapt to," she said. "How are things going with you? You seem to be doing well."

"At least it's less horribly cold today than it has been," Romeo said. "Though I hope the island's next home is less frozen."

"I do seem to be doing fairly well," he acknowledged. "I took a day trip to Paris this week, and that was more than pleasant. How have you been?"

"I would like us to be someplace less cold," Teyla agreed. "I quite liked the tropical places."

"I am well," she added. "The squirrels have been...less of a nuisance than usual."

"Have they decided they're no longer in love with you?" Romeo asked. "Even for me, that would be a relief."

"I believe they have at least decided that no one is a threat to their interests," Teyla replied. "That has been a relieving start."

"That's a first step," he agreed. "And I'd fear for anyone who did take an inappropriate interest. He'd get pelted with acorns and empty rum bottles."

"Never mind that I can take care of anyone with an inappropriate interest on my own," Teyla said, rolling her eyes. "Not that I've had to here, of course."

"Squirrels are protective creatures," Romeo ventured. "I'm surprised they haven't started picketing our room ... and I just gave them the idea, didn't I?"
