Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Despite the fact that they were still in Antarctica, the weather for the picnic was beautiful. It was sunny, warm, and clear enough to see many of the icebergs circling the island from the school's location. If people were still cold, there was more warm food than usual out on the tables, and hot drinks were being kept well-stocked.

Along with the tables and chairs near the food, there was a table of nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

It was time for the picnic to begin!

Momoko's head turned slowly towards the voice. Definitely not a girl! She blinked rapidly, trying to make sense of this. "You... You're not a girl. I'm a girl. You're not a girl. How can you be not a girl?" She paused for a moment, and frowned. "Is that allowed?"

Lucas looked down at himself. "Last time I checked it was. Is there a problem with me not being a girl?" Nathan would love that one.

"Okay, Momoko!" Momoko sometimes forgot to not talk aloud when talking to herself. "This isn't home. They do things differently here."

She could do this! She'd tried to run away on a tramp steamer with a walking plate of spaghetti when she was 13! She could live in the same dorm room with a boy!

She shook her head and smiled, sticking out her hand to shake. "Hi! I'm Momoko Akatsutsumi! 16 years old for 5 days now, I think. I'm new here but I'm a sophomore. My favourite colour is pink, my favourite food is cake, any cake, and I like boys so it's okay that you are one. Nice to meet you!"

"Oh my god, are you for real?" Lucas was terrified. He looked around to make sure Brooke wasn't somewhere pulling the strings on his newest torture.

"Yes, I'm for real." Momoko tilted her head, and folded her arms. He looked frightened, so she tried to explain herself. "Where I come from guys and girls don't usually share the same dorm room. Sorry, I freaked out. Did you hear me when I said I was new?"

"Sorry," Lucas rubbed his hand over his face, trying to come to grips with this interesting situation. "I'm Lucas Scott, 17. I'm a writer and a basketball player. It's nice to meet you."
