Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Despite the fact that they were still in Antarctica, the weather for the picnic was beautiful. It was sunny, warm, and clear enough to see many of the icebergs circling the island from the school's location. If people were still cold, there was more warm food than usual out on the tables, and hot drinks were being kept well-stocked.

Along with the tables and chairs near the food, there was a table of nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

It was time for the picnic to begin!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

He ducked his head slightly. "I'm sorry, I was looking for Viki - they are supposed to be my roommate," he explained. "I think that would be you?"

"You don't look like any bumblebee I've ever seen," she said vaguely, not at all offended. "But I suppose you must be since that's who it says I'm with."

"It was the name I chose that, I felt, best represented me," he said. "It's nice to meet you, Viki."

"You're very tall," Viki informed him. "And as long as you're not going to sting me, it's very nice to meet you as well."

"I don't have a stinging mechanism, and if I did I would endeavor to keep it away from you," he said. "And I used to be much taller."

"I don't think I'll ever be that tall," she said honestly. "Is it very different from being short?"

In lieu of a reply, Bumblebee searched through radio waves for appropriate lyrics. "I feel like I'm walkin' 'round ten feet tall," he played, then added in his own voice, "I'm not sure I could say, as this is short for me."

She clapped her hands together. "You can sing!"

...Viki was not very technologically advanced at all really.

The sudden guitar accompaniment had obviously not been enough of a clue. Bumblebee chirped in confusion before considering his answer. "In a way, yes," he said. "I like Earth music very much."

"That's so exciting," she said, content to misunderstand how he'd done it. "I can't do anything like that."

"Music gives you happiness and sadness," proclaimed a contemporary pop song. "Music is very expressive," he said. "I'm glad you enjoy it as well."

"It's very pretty," she said. "And there's always music no matter when."

"Most everywhere I've seen," he agreed. "Where are you from, Viki?"

"I don't really know," she said amicably. "Not from around here though. Do you recognize this place?"

"Not this place specifically," he said. "I've never been to this island before."

"It's a very nice island," she offered. "I like the icebergs."

"I had noticed those. I don't think they're normal for Virginia," he said, slightly thoughtful.

"Maybe Virginia wanted a change?" she suggested. "Or maybe a wizard did it for effect."

"...What is a wizard?" Bumblebee asked, momentarily perplexed?

"They can do magic," she said. "And change all sorts of things with a wave of their hands."

"Oh," he said, though it didn't make much sense. "What powers their 'magic'?"

Viki considered that. "I think it depends, really," she mused. "On what sort of magic they can do..."
