Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Despite the fact that they were still in Antarctica, the weather for the picnic was beautiful. It was sunny, warm, and clear enough to see many of the icebergs circling the island from the school's location. If people were still cold, there was more warm food than usual out on the tables, and hot drinks were being kept well-stocked.

Along with the tables and chairs near the food, there was a table of nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

It was time for the picnic to begin!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

Traditionally shirtless, Alec had affixed his nametag to his chest and searched among the crowd until he found a "Hannibal". He was kind of glad that was not his name. "Hey, it's you!"

"Yes, it is," Hannibal replied, glancing at the nametag. "And you're Alec. Isn't that gonna hurt when you rip it out?"

"Nah, never does," he shrugged, grinning. "So welcome to Fandom. I can answer any questions you might have, as well as let you know that things are kinda weird here."

"All right." He tried to think of something, anything. "You religiously against shirts?"

"It's a nice ice breaker and it provides a welcoming environment for the new guys, I find," he explained, chipper. "Also the girls like it. And others. So."

"Easy enough to remember," he said with a nod. "Lots of girls here?"

"Quite a few," he confirmed. "Many of them hot, many of them friendly."

"My favorite thing to hear," Hannibal said happily. "How long you been here?"

"Over a year?" Alec thought a moment. "Yeah, that's about right. Seems like a long time, now, but in the good way."

"Did you want to end up here?" Hannibal asked.

"Kind of," he said, lifting one shoulder in a vague shrug. "I was looking for a place to hide out at first, ended up sticking around."

"Just wondering how many people stay and how many people head for the hills after the first day," Hannibal said.

Alec snickered. "I don't think I've heard about anyone leaving immediately," he said. "It's pretty awesome here, as long as you're not easily freaked."

"I don't like clowns," he admitted. "There aren't any clowns wandering around, trying to make me laugh, are there?"

"Not that I know of," Alec said, frowning. "You mean like the whole face paint, big red nose, kind of clown?"

"Yeah." He shuddered. "They're just kind of...in your face in creepy ways."

"Yeeeah, okay, now I'm going to be watching out for clowns too."

"You can never be too careful," Hannibal said. "They lull you into a false sense of self and then you're doomed."
