A note had been sent around to all the students in both How to Blend In and Courtly Dancing and Defence telling them to meet at the Danger Shop for both the 3rd and 4th periods.

The Danger Shop was set up with racks of costumes again - formal clothes with many, many masks of all different sorts to choose from.

Aly was smiling as she glanced around at the students though her eyes were sharp to pick out injuries or worries from the weekend. "It's good to see all of you in one piece more or less after the past weekend. Sadly for you, because we won, you all still have class today," she teased. "Next time, keep that in mind."

"As I'm sure you've all noticed, we're going to have both classes together today. For a masquerade ball. Students learning how to blend in? I think the mission here is obvious. Watch the Danger Shop generated attendees and the Courtly Dancing class and remember the rules of disguise and taking on a character. Courtly Dancing? Your 'special accessories' are on that table" Aly pointed to a table full of weapons. "Everything else you've learned - flirting and dancing will come in handy. Those of you who were in both classes? You have a head start."

"All of you can mingle, dance, learn what you can from each other or the other attendees and generally have fun. And before you get dressed, let me just say I've enjoyed having all of you in class these workshops. If you ever want to stop by, feel free, and I hope to see all you in another class of mine sometime soon."

Romeo figured he owed at least one of the ladies present a dance, though he was certainly open to offers from other partners.

There was, at least, one lady present who wanted a dance.

"May I?" she asked, holding out a hand. "Or has your dance card already filled for the evening?"

Romeo feigned a glance at an imaginary card. "I believe there is room for one more," he teased, with half a bow, and took the offered hand. "Shall we?"

Dōjima swept a decent curtsy and smiled. "Indeed," she purred, allowing him to take the lead. "I hope you didn't bump me to the head of your dance list, otherwise the other girls might jump me in the bathroom later."

That particular turn of phrase startled Romeo until he remembered "jump me" had more than one meaning, and he was a little unsteady as he tried to find the rhythm of the song that was playing.

"Ah, wellllll," he said, finally getting into the waltz. "I don't think you should have trouble with other girls just now. They can cut in if they mind."

The smirk Dōjima gave him indicated she had a pretty good idea of where his mind had gone. "They can try," she replied, eyes dancing behind her mask. "The music has started, that means you're mine."

"Well, for the duration of the dance, at least."

His mind was unfortunately predictable.

"At least that," he said, with a low chuckle. "We'll have to dance with others to maintain our cover. But if I am not being shocking, I had hoped I might see you home after the dance."

"You saw my home no more than two days ago," she bantered, "You want to go back so soon? I'm sure my father would be thrilled to host us again." No, he wouldn't.

"If you wish to see me back to my room, however, I'm sure that can be arranged."

"And I'd so hoped to take a portal to see your father again," Romeo said, rolling his eyes a bit. He was grateful Yurika's home was even farther away than his own.

"But, if you think a trip to Tokyo impractical, I can settle for the dorm without too much disappointment."

"Oh, so now my room is settling, is it?" Dōjima challenged, tone still light so he would (hopefully) know she was joking. "Alas, now my pillow and I feel so abandoned."

Romeo knew she was joking, but he tried to bite back his grin. "Alas and alack," he concurred. "Is there something I could do to show your pillow it is the better of any in Japan, or are its feelings wounded beyond repair?"

She thought about this for a moment, biting at her lip thoughtfully. "I suppose you could woo your way back into its good graces. It does like you, you know."

"Really," he said, and pretended to ponder this as he moved to twirl her. "I like it, too. Perhaps I could commune with it after I walk you home."

"I doubt Miss Bell would notice if the shop didn't reopen right after class..."

Yurika laughed and twirled towards him. "If she asks, just tell the truth," she whispered as she moved around him. "I think you'd get a raise."

"Or, you could ask me back to the shop with you, as a consultant on how to best regain the affections of my pillow," she replied. "Of course, it might be best if the store were to remain closed then, too. I wouldn't want you distracted from our work."

For a second, Romeo's face bore the agonized expression of one asked to choose between a week in Tahiti and a new convertible. He leaned to kiss her on the forehead before speaking. "Your room," he whispered into her hairline, "is more comfortable, and your pillow might appreciate my visit to its homeland. Though you're welcome in the shop if you wish to plot behind its back."

"The pillow always appreciates your visits," she promised. "You may walk me back to my room then, Signor Montague, and to hell with the shocked and scandalized citizenry."

He wasn't the only one who could learn fancy new words, now was he?

His smile grew, and his arms tightened around her. Italian fit her mouth well.

"To hell with all of that," he agreed. "I shall see you - and the pillow --after class, signorina."

The song trailed off, and Yurika regretfully slid out of his arms to offer a proper curtsy. "After class, then," she murmured quietly, looking up at him under her lashes.

"I'm looking forward to it."
