Study Hall -- Thursday, October 6th

Sarah doesn't bother announcing the study hall or the announcements. She is leaning back in her desk chair, chain-smoking cigarettes while she nurses a cup of hot black coffee and occasionally rocks back and forth in the chair. She's wearing dark sunglasses and her hair is a mess. Every once in a while, she stops moving, and it's entirely possible she's napping.

There's a large bowl of marbles on the desk in front of her. If anybody pisses her off or annoys her, she may or may not peg a marble at their head, depending on whether or not she gives enough of a shit.

*Angela walks into study hall munching from a bag of granola. She Takes a seat and begins idly doodling in a notebook.*

Rory wanders in, holding a cup of coffee and a doughnut. She sits next to Angela and opens up The Bell Jar.

Angela looks up from her notebook and waves to Rory. "Hey. So are you still going to Angelus' thing tonight? I can't decide."

"Absolutely. I mean - I don't trust him, really," she amends, "but I figure that A," she says, ticking them off on her fingers, "there're a ton of witnesses. B, Bristow approved it, and he strikes me as a guy who wouldn't let a scary vampire kill a bunch of people, because it'd look bad for him. And C, Logan seems to be okay with it, and I trust him. If he thought there was any chance that this could go wrong, he wouldn't host it," she concludes with a shrug.

Angela rolls her eyes. "I think with Bristow, it might depend on *which* bunch of people," she says. "But you're probably right. I can just hide behind you, Marty and Logan and avoid eye contact with anyone else."

Rory grins. "Hey, worst comes to worst, I know the layout of the place well enough to know a few places we could hide if needs be."

Chloe smiles as she spots Rory a few spots away. "Rory!" she calls, heading over to her. "Okay, I am in desperate need of really quick help with my Criminology homework. Could you take a second and rate these six things from worst to least?"

Rory smiles, and reads the assignment. She quickly writes on a piece of paper:

1. A poor man who kills a rich man for a small sum of money to provide more for his family (perceived necessity)
2. A man who kills another man because that man hurt a member of his family (retribution)
3. A rich man who kills another rich man for a large sum of money to provide more for his family (greed)
4. A man who kills another man because he catches that man in bed with his wife (rage)
5. A man who kills another man because they are from different sociological groups (prejudice)
6. A man who kills another man for the enjoyment of killing (thrill)

"That work?"

"That's perfect!" Chloe grins and gives Rory a hug. "Thank you."

"No worries," she says, returning the hug and smiling.

*Zero walks in with a cup of coffee and a notebook. She spots Angela and Rory and heads vaguely them-wards.*

Angela waves to Zero. "Hi. What's up?"

Not much. Julian's still a cat, there's a giant blade in the floor outside the library...y'know, the usual.

"Typical week at Fandom High," Angela says. "At least House seems to be stalling on the lab rat stuff. Though if he breaks away from his soaps to start it on Friday..."

"Oh, and I hope they un-cat Julian soon."

I am so squallin' glad about that, but I keep thinkin' Dean Bristow's gonna, like, notice.

"He might already have", Angela says, clearly unhappy.

Rory waves to Zero. "So, any psychotic losers try to serenade anyone this morning?" she asks when Zero's within ear-range.

*grin. Not that I know of. Broots sent me daisies this mornin', but he's my Homecomin' date an' I told him I liked them. I just hope he's not gettin' the wrong idea...

"Aw," Rory gushes. "Daisies are so cute. Are you two going as friends?"

Theoretically. Parker kinda offered him to me sacrificial-lamb style, but he seems like a really swerval guy.

Rory arches a brow. "Ah...somehow, that doesn't surprise me."
