"Good afternoon," John said as all the students filed in. "It's good to see all of you here more or less in one piece.

"Today, being our last class, your assignment is to do a tune up on your respective cars. That could involve any or all of the things you've learned." He paused. "I know this past weekend has been... traumatic for some of you. If you feel the need for someone to talk to, I -- or any of the other teachers I'm sure -- will listen.

"But barring that, let's see how well you've learned your lessons, shall we?"

Dick started to fix up his car as quickly and efficiently as he could. His goal was to get the entire thing tuned up (in order according to the syllabus) before the end of the period, but he didn't quite get the new battery installed, meaning the wipers and coolant were left as well.
